About this file
This document contains an off-post housing adequacy checklist and template used by the Department of the Army to inspect housing units rented by military personnel from private landlords. The checklist is divided into four sections reviewing structural standards, electrical and plumbing standards, and general health, safety and living conditions. Inspectors conduct a walkthrough and check off requirements for items including proper doors, windows and flooring, functioning kitchen appliances and bathroom fixtures, installed heating and smoke detectors, covered wiring and safe outdoor areas. Any units failing inspection require re-inspection by the Housing Services Office after deficiencies are addressed by the landlord.
The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation from the Department of the Army Materiel Command Joint Munitions Command for base operations support services on Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois. Services sought include grounds maintenance, pavement clearance, facility maintenance for buildings and housing, pest management, hydroelectric plant maintenance, bridge operations and unscheduled services. The proposed contract would be for one base year and four option years with a six month option to extend.
