About this file

This document is a specification and visual reference guide for inventory tags required for equipment maintenance and repair at DeCA (Defense Commissary Agency) facilities.

The tags shall be pre-numbered, self-adhesive vinyl/PVC foil laser-printable labels (Avery Zweckform L7912-10 or equivalent) with water-resistant, waterproof, oil-resistant properties that will not fade, wash off, or require lamination or UV resistance treatment. Tags must feature a blue background with white lettering and shall measure 2.75 inches by 1 inch in dimension. Each tag consists of a 3-letter facility code (shown in Appendix 1) followed by 6 numbers. Text and letters must comprise at least 50 percent of the overall label size, unless a barcode or QR code is included, in which case the text must not be smaller than 30 percent of the label size. Tags shall not contain contractor names, logos, or contact information. Tags must be permanently affixed to equipment in visible locations whenever possible, positioned adjacent to the DeCA barcode label and data plate. For refrigeration cases and other items in sales areas, tags shall be affixed inside the case or on the side to remain invisible to customers. Existing vinyl inventory tags shall not be replaced unless they are unreadable or missing at the start of contract performance.
