About this file
This document is a specification for Metal Building Systems for the Whiteriver Hospital project, issued by SmithGroup as Final Construction Documents with Bid Addendum-H dated 18 June 2026.
The specification establishes requirements for a complete metal building system including structural-steel framing, standing-seam metal roof panels with vertical ribs, concealed-fastener flush-profile metal wall panels with flush-profile liner panels, thermal insulation (R-30 ci for roof, R-13 + R-14 ci for walls), personnel doors and frames, aluminum windows, door canopies, snow retention bars, and associated accessories. The basis of design is Butler Manufacturing Company (BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc.), though equivalent products from other manufacturers may be considered with minor deviations. The metal building system must be obtained from a single source and single manufacturer. Roof panels feature aluminum-zinc alloy-coated steel with three-coat fluoropolymer finish; wall panels match with concealed fasteners and factory-applied sealant. The specification includes 20-year warranties on metal panel finishes and standing-seam roof panel weathertightness. Performance requirements address structural loads per MBMA guidelines, seismic performance per ASCE/SEI 7, air infiltration limits (0.06 cfm/sq. ft. for both roof and wall panels), water penetration prevention, wind-uplift resistance rated UL 90, and energy performance with Solar Reflectance Index of at least 64. Shop drawings, product data, samples, delegated design submittals with professional engineer certification, and quality assurance documentation from an IAS AC472-accredited manufacturer are required. Installation must comply with manufacturer instructions with specified tolerances (1/4 inch in 20 feet for panels), proper flashing and sealing, concurrent thermal insulation installation, and field quality control inspections by a qualified special inspector.
