SECTION 01 40 00
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including F.A.A. General and Supple-mentary Conditions and other Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
1.2 SUMMARY
A. This Section includes administrative and procedural requirements for quality assurance and quality control.
B. Testing and inspecting services are required to verify compliance with requirements specified or indicated. These services do not relieve Contractor of responsibility for compliance with the Contract Document requirements.
1. Specific quality-control requirements for individual construction activities are specified in the Sections that specify those activities. Requirements in those Sections may also cover production of standard products.
2. Specified tests, inspections, and related actions do not limit Contractor's quality-control procedures that facilitate compliance with the Contract Document re-quirements.
3. Requirements for Contractor to provide quality-control services required by Owner Representative, Contracting Officer, or authorities having jurisdiction are not limited by provisions of this Section.
C. Related Sections include the following:
1. Divisions 2 through 33 Sections for specific test and inspection requirements.
1.3 DEFINITIONS
A. Quality-Assurance Services: Activities, actions, and procedures performed before and during execution of the Work to guard against defects and deficiencies and ensure that proposed construction complies with requirements.
B. Quality-Control Services: Tests, inspections, procedures, and related actions during and after execution of the Work to evaluate that completed construction complies with re-quirements. Services do not include contract enforcement activities performed by Owner Representative.
C. Testing Agency: An entity engaged to perform specific tests, inspections, or both. Test-ing laboratory shall mean the same as testing agency.

1.4 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
A. Reference F.A.A. General and Supplementary Conditions.
1.5 SPECIAL INSPECTIONS
A. The Contractor shall acquire the services of an independent testing and inspection firm(s) to oversee and certify all Special Inspections required by the City of Oklahoma City and IBC (version adopted by City of Oklahoma City). These independent firms shall not be affiliated with or have had any business relation, nor any other relationship that would imply any conflict of interest with respect to the Contractor. The fees for such testing and inspections shall be included in the Base Bid amount.
B. The Contractor is hereby notified that the MMAC (Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center) is on OCAT (Oklahoma City Airport Trust) leased land and adjacent to runways. Contractor shall obtain airway clearance by registering objects over 27’ high. The Contractor shall perform the survey for crane use and obtain approval from the Director of Airport Oper-ations. A survey is required at the conclusion of the project to register a new building, light poles, and constructed object over 27’ high.
1.6 SUBMITTALS
A. Qualification Data: For testing agencies specified in "Quality Assurance" Article to demonstrate their capabilities and experience. Include proof of qualifications in the form of a recent report on the inspection of the testing agency by a recognized author-ity.
B. Delegated-Design Submittal: In addition to Shop Drawings, Product Data, and other re-quired submittals, submit a statement, signed and sealed by the responsible design pro-fessional, for each product and system specifically assigned to Contractor to be designed or certified by a design professional, indicating that the products and systems are in compliance with performance and design criteria indicated. Include list of codes, loads, and other factors used in performing these services. All work performed, including by not limited to, Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing of each portable and mod-ular unit shall be performed by licensed craftsmen to perform work in Oklahoma County and the City of Oklahoma City. Each unit shall bear certificates of approval from the City Of Oklahoma City and authorities having jurisdiction in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.
C. Schedule of Tests and Inspections: Prepare in tabular form and include the following:
1. Specification Section number and title.
2. Description of test and inspection.
3. Identification of applicable standards.
4. Identification of test and inspection methods.
5. Number of tests and inspections required.
6. Time schedule or time span for tests and inspections.

7. Entity responsible for performing tests and inspections.
8. Requirements for obtaining samples.
9. Unique characteristics of each quality-control service.
D. Reports: Prepare and submit certified written reports that include the following:
1. Date of issue.
2. Project title and number.
3. Name, address, and telephone number of testing agency.
4. Dates and locations of samples and tests or inspections.
5. Names of individuals making tests and inspections.
6. Description of the Work and test and inspection method.
7. Identification of product and Specification Section.
8. Complete test or inspection data.
9. Test and inspection results and an interpretation of test results.
10. Ambient conditions at time of sample taking and testing and inspecting.
11. Comments or professional opinion on whether tested or inspected Work com-plies with the Contract Document requirements.
12. Name and signature of laboratory inspector.
13. Recommendations on retesting and re-inspecting.
E. Permits, Licenses, and Certificates: For Owner's records, submit copies of permits, li-censes, certifications, inspection reports, releases, jurisdictional settlements, notices, receipts for fee payments, judgments, correspondence, records, and similar documents, established for compliance with standards and regulations bearing on performance of the Work.
1.7 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Fabricator Qualifications: A firm experienced in producing products similar to those in-dicated for this Project and with a record of successful in-service performance, as well as sufficient production capacity to produce required units.
B. Installer Qualifications: A firm or individual experienced in installing, erecting, or assem-bling work similar in material, design, and extent to that indicated for this Project, whose work has resulted in construction with a record of successful in-service perfor-mance.
C. Manufacturer Qualifications: A firm experienced in manufacturing products or systems similar to those indicated for this Project and with a record of successful in-service per-formance.
D. Specialists: Certain sections of the Specifications require that specific construction activ-ities shall be performed by entities who are recognized experts in those operations.
Specialists shall satisfy qualification requirements indicated and shall be engaged for the activities indicated.

1. Requirement for specialists shall not supersede building codes and similar regu-lations governing the Work, nor interfere with local trade-union jurisdictional settlements and similar conventions.
E. Testing Agency Qualifications: An agency with the experience and capability to conduct testing and inspecting indicated, as documented by ASTM E 548, and that specializes in types of tests and inspections to be performed.
F. Preconstruction Testing: Testing agency shall perform preconstruction testing for com-pliance with specified requirements for performance and test methods.
1. Contractor responsibilities include the following:
a. Provide test specimens and assemblies representative of proposed ma-terials and construction. Provide sizes and configurations of assemblies to adequately demonstrate capability of product to comply with perfor-mance requirements.
b. Submit specimens in a timely manner with sufficient time for testing and analyzing results to prevent delaying the Work.
2. Testing Agency Responsibilities: Submit a certified written report of each test, inspection, and similar quality-assurance service to Owner Representative, with copy to Contractor. Interpret tests and inspections and state in each report whether tested and inspected work complies with or deviates from the Contract Documents.
1.8 QUALITY CONTROL
A. Contractor Responsibilities: Unless otherwise indicated, provide quality-control services specified and required by authorities having jurisdiction.
1. Where services are indicated as Contractor's responsibility, engage a qualified testing agency to perform these quality-control services.
a. Contractor shall not employ the same entity engaged by Owner, unless agreed to in writing by Owner.
2. Notify testing agencies at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance of time when
Work that requires testing or inspecting will be performed.
3. Where quality-control services are indicated as Contractor's responsibility, sub-mit a certified written report, in duplicate, of each quality-control service.
4. Testing and inspecting requested by Contractor and not required by the Con-tract Documents are Contractor's responsibility.
5. Submit additional copies of each written report directly to authorities having jurisdiction, when they so direct.
B. Special Tests and Inspections: The Contractor shall be required to acquire the services of an independent testing and inspection firm(s) to oversee and certify all Special In-spections required by the City of Oklahoma City and IBC (version adopted by City of Ok-lahoma City). These independent firms shall not be affiliated with or have had any
01 40 00 - 5 of 6 business relation, nor any other relationship that would imply any conflict of interest with respect to the Contractor.
1. Testing agency will notify Owner Representative, FAA Inspector, and Contractor promptly of irregularities and deficiencies observed in the Work during perfor-mance of its services.
2. Testing agency will submit a certified written report of each test, inspection, and similar quality-control service to Owner Representative and FAA Inspector with copy to Contractor and to authorities having jurisdiction.
3. Testing agency will submit a final report of special tests and inspections at Sub-stantial Completion, which includes a list of unresolved deficiencies.
4. Testing agency will interpret tests and inspections and state in each report whether tested and inspected work complies with or deviates from the Contract Documents.
5. Testing agency will retest and re-inspect corrected work.
C. Retesting/Re-inspecting: Regardless of whether original tests or inspections were Con-tractor's responsibility, provide quality-control services, including retesting and re-in-specting, for construction that revised or replaced Work that failed to comply with re-quirements established by the Contract Documents.
D. Testing Agency Responsibilities: Cooperate with Owner Representative, FAA Inspector, and Contractor in performance of duties. Provide qualified personnel to perform re-quired tests and inspections.
1. Notify Owner Representative, FAA Inspector, and Contractor promptly of irregu-larities or deficiencies observed in the Work during performance of its services.
2. Interpret tests and inspections and state in each report whether tested and in-spected work complies with or deviates from requirements.
3. Submit a certified written report, in duplicate, of each test, inspection, and simi-lar quality-control service through Contractor.
4. Do not release, revoke, alter, or increase requirements of the Contract Docu-ments or approve or accept any portion of the Work.
5. Do not perform any duties of Contractor.
E. Associated Services: Cooperate with agencies performing required tests, inspections, and similar quality-control services, and provide reasonable auxiliary services as re-quested. Notify agency sufficiently in advance of operations to permit assignment of personnel. Provide the following:
1. Access to the Work.
2. Incidental labor and facilities necessary to facilitate tests and inspections.
3. Adequate quantities of representative samples of materials that require testing and inspecting. Assist agency in obtaining samples.
4. Facilities for storage and field-curing of test samples.
5. Delivery of samples to testing agencies.

6. Preliminary design mix proposed for use for material mixes that require control by testing agency.
7. Security and protection for samples and for testing and inspecting equipment at Project site.
F. Coordination: Coordinate sequence of activities to accommodate required quality-as-surance and quality-control services with a minimum of delay and to avoid necessity of removing and replacing construction to accommodate testing and inspecting.
1. Schedule times for tests, inspections, obtaining samples, and similar activities.
G. Schedule of Tests and Inspections: Prepare a schedule of tests, inspections, and similar quality-control services required by the Contract Documents. Submit schedule within thirty (30) days of date established for the Notice to Proceed.
1. Distribution: Distribute schedule to Contracting Officer, testing agencies, and each party involved in performance of portions of the Work where tests and in-spections are required.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
(Not Used)
PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.1 REPAIR AND PROTECTION
A. General: On completion of testing, inspecting, sample taking, and similar services, re-pair damaged construction and restore substrates and finishes.
1. Provide materials and comply with installation requirements specified in other
Sections of these Specifications. Restore patched areas and extend restoration into adjoining areas in a manner that eliminates evidence of patching.
2. Comply.
B. Protect construction exposed by or for quality-control service activities.
C. Repair and protection are Contractor's responsibility, regardless of the assignment of responsibility for quality-control services.

SELECTIVE DEMOLITION
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
1.2 SUMMARY
A. Section Includes:
1. Demolition and removal of selected portions of building or structure.
2. Demolition and removal of selected site elements.
3. Salvage of existing items to be reused or recycled.
4. Removal of concrete site elements.
1.3 DEFINITIONS
A. Remove: Detach items from existing construction and legally dispose of them off-site unless indicated to be removed and salvaged or removed and reinstalled.
B. Remove and Salvage: Carefully detach from existing construction, in a manner to prevent damage, and deliver to Government.
C. Remove and Reinstall: Detach items from existing construction, prepare for reuse, and reinstall where indicated.
D. Existing to Remain: Existing items of construction that are not to be permanently removed and that are not otherwise indicated to be removed, removed and salvaged, or removed and reinstalled.
1.4 MATERIALS OWNERSHIP
A. Unless otherwise indicated, demolition waste becomes property of Contractor.
B. Historic items, relics, antiques, and similar objects including, but not limited to, cornerstones and their contents, commemorative plaques and tablets, and other items of interest or value to Government that may be uncovered during demolition remain the property of Government.
1. Carefully salvage in a manner to prevent damage and promptly return to Government.
1.5 PREINSTALLATION MEETINGS
A. Preconstruction Conference: Conduct conference at Project site.

1. Inspect and discuss condition of construction to be selectively demolished.
2. Review structural load limitations of existing structure.
3. Review and finalize selective demolition schedule and verify availability of materials, demolition personnel, equipment, and facilities needed to make progress and avoid delays.
4. Review requirements of work performed by other trades that rely on substrates exposed by selective demolition operations.
5. Review areas where existing construction is to remain and requires protection.
1.6 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS
A. Qualification Data: For refrigerant recovery technician.
B. Proposed Protection Measures: Submit report, including drawings, that indicates the measures proposed for protecting individuals and property, for environmental protection, for dust control and for noise control. Indicate proposed locations and construction of barriers.
C. Schedule of Selective Demolition Activities: Indicate the following:
1. Detailed sequence of selective demolition and removal work, with starting and ending dates for each activity. Ensure Government's and other tenants' on-site operations are uninterrupted.
2. Interruption of utility services. Indicate how long utility services will be interrupted.
3. Coordination for shutoff, capping, and continuation of utility services.
4. Use of elevator and stairs.
5. Coordination of Government's continuing occupancy of portions of existing building and of Government's partial occupancy of completed Work.
D. Inventory: Submit a list of items to be removed and salvaged and deliver to Government prior to start of demolition.
E. Statement of Refrigerant Recovery: Signed by refrigerant recovery technician responsible for recovering refrigerant, stating that all refrigerant that was present was recovered and that recovery was performed according to EPA regulations. Include name and address of technician and date refrigerant was recovered.
F. Waste Management Plan: Submit in accordance with FAA AMS Contract Clause 3.6.3-22. At minimum, Contractor must submit monthly waste management reports to FAA contracting with copies to AMP-100 and AMP-400.
G. Disposition of demolition materials:
1. No less than 50% of demolition material must be diverted from landfill except as authorized in writing by the contract officer. For the purpose of this requirement, “diverted from landfill” includes the following disposition(s) of demolition material(s):
a. Materials that are reused in accordance with the contract documents, 02 41 19 - 3 of 9
b. Materials that are sold or transferred to entities that will recycle or reuse the materials,
c. Materials that are otherwise repurposed rather than discarded.
2. Submit documentation of all demolition material that was removed and/or delivered to others during the applicable billing period, with each application for payment:
a. Provide a copy of all current receipts for material that was dumped or discarded.
b. Provide a copy of all current receipts for material that was sold or transferred to others.
c. Provide receipt(s) for all demolition material that was otherwise reused or repurposed.
d. Receipts must indicate:
i. The date on which the material was removed or delivered to others.
ii. The name, address and phone number of each party that either delivered or received demolition material.
iii. Description of material(s); e.g. aluminum framing, structural steel, concrete, brick, sheet metal, gypsum board, wire, conduit, etc.
iv. Quantity (weight) of material by type, and
v. The disposition of the material (reused, sold for recycling, dumped, etc.).
e. Provide a current cumulative tabulation of all receipts indicating the type and quantity of each type of material that was removed and/or delivered to others.
1.7 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS
A. Inventory: Submit a list of items that have been removed and salvaged.
B. Landfill Records: Indicate receipt and acceptance of hazardous wastes by a landfill facility licensed to accept hazardous wastes.
1.8 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Refrigerant Recovery Technician Qualifications: Certified by an EPA-approved certification program.
1.9 FIELD CONDITIONS
A. Government will occupy portions of building immediately adjacent to selective demolition area. Conduct selective demolition so Government's operations will not be disrupted.
B. Conditions existing at time of inspection for bidding purpose will be maintained by Government as far as practical.
1. Before selective demolition, Government will remove the following items:
a. All furniture, equipment and workbenches in demolition areas.
C. Notify Contracting Officer of discrepancies between existing conditions and Drawings before proceeding with selective demolition.

D. Hazardous Materials: It is not expected that hazardous materials will be encountered in the Work.
1. Hazardous materials will be removed by Government before start of the Work.
2. If suspected hazardous materials are encountered, do not disturb; immediately notify
Contracting Officer and Government. Hazardous materials will be removed by Government under a separate contract.
E. Hazardous Materials: Hazardous materials are present in buildings and structures to be selectively demolished. A report on the presence of hazardous materials is on file for review and use. Examine report to become aware of locations where hazardous materials are present.
1. Hazardous material remediation is specified elsewhere in the Contract Documents.
2. Do not disturb hazardous materials or items suspected of containing hazardous materials except under procedures specified elsewhere in the Contract Documents.
F. Storage or sale of removed items or materials on-site is not permitted.
G. Utility Service: Maintain existing utilities indicated to remain in service and protect them against damage during selective demolition operations.
1. Maintain fire-protection facilities in service during selective demolition operations.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 PEFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A. Regulatory Requirements: Comply with governing EPA notification regulations before beginning selective demolition. Comply with hauling and disposal regulations of authorities having jurisdiction.
B. Standards: Comply with ANSI/ASSE A10.6 and NFPA 241.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that all utilities have been disconnected and capped before starting selective demolition operations.
B. Review record documents of existing construction provided by Government. Government does not guarantee that existing conditions are same as those indicated in record documents.
C. Survey existing conditions and correlate with requirements indicated to determine extent of selective demolition required.

D. When unanticipated mechanical, electrical, or structural elements that conflict with intended function or design are encountered, investigate and measure the nature and extent of conflict.
Promptly submit a written report to Contracting Officer.
E. Perform an engineering survey of condition of building to determine whether removing any element might result in structural deficiency or unplanned collapse of any portion of structure or adjacent structures during selective building demolition operations.
1. Perform surveys as the Work progresses to detect hazards resulting from selective demolition activities.
2. Steel Tendons: Locate tensioned steel tendons and include recommendations for de-tensioning.
F. Survey of Existing Conditions: Record existing conditions by use of measured drawings and preconstruction photographs .
1. Comply with requirements specified in Section 013233 "Photographic Documentation."
2. Inventory and record the condition of items to be removed and salvaged. Provide photographs of conditions that might be misconstrued as damage caused by salvage operations.
3. Before selective demolition or removal of existing building elements that will be reproduced or duplicated in final Work, make permanent record of measurements, materials, and construction details required to make exact reproduction.
3.2 UTILITY SERVICES AND MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
A. Existing Services/Systems to Remain: Maintain services/systems indicated to remain and protect them against damage.
1. Comply with requirements for existing services/systems interruptions specified in
Section 01010 "Summary of Work."
B. Existing Services/Systems to Be Removed, Relocated, or Abandoned: Locate, identify, disconnect, and seal or cap off indicated utility services and mechanical/electrical systems serving areas to be selectively demolished.
1. Government will arrange to shut off indicated services/systems when requested by
Contractor.
2. If services/systems are required to be removed, relocated, or abandoned, provide temporary services/systems that bypass area of selective demolition and that maintain continuity of services/systems to other parts of building.
3. Disconnect, demolish, and remove fire-suppression systems, plumbing, and HVAC systems, equipment, and components indicated to be removed.
a. Piping to Be Removed: Remove portion of piping indicated to be removed and cap or plug remaining piping with same or compatible piping material.
b. Piping to Be Abandoned in Place: Drain piping and cap or plug piping with same or compatible piping material.
c. Equipment to Be Removed: Disconnect and cap services and remove equipment.

d. Equipment to Be Removed and Reinstalled: Disconnect and cap services and remove, clean, and store equipment; when appropriate, reinstall, reconnect, and make equipment operational.
e. Equipment to Be Removed and Salvaged: Disconnect and cap services and remove equipment and deliver to Government.
f. Ducts to Be Removed: Remove portion of ducts indicated to be removed and plug remaining ducts with same or compatible ductwork material.
g. Ducts to Be Abandoned in Place: Cap or plug ducts with same or compatible ductwork material.
C. Refrigerant: Remove refrigerant from mechanical equipment to be selectively demolished according to 40 CFR 82 and regulations of authorities having jurisdiction.
3.3 PREPARATION
A. Site Access and Temporary Controls: Conduct selective demolition and debris-removal operations to ensure minimum interference with roads, streets, walks, walkways, and other adjacent occupied and used facilities.
1. Comply with requirements for access and protection specified in Section 015000
"Temporary Facilities and Controls."
B. Temporary Facilities: Provide temporary barricades and other protection required to prevent injury to people and damage to adjacent buildings and facilities to remain.
1. Contractor shall field verify all existing conditions prior to commencing work.
2. Provide protection to ensure safe passage of people around selective demolition area and to and from occupied portions of building.
3. Provide temporary weather protection, during interval between selective demolition of existing construction on exterior surfaces and new construction, to prevent water leakage and damage to structure and interior areas.
4. Protect walls, ceilings, floors, and other existing finish work that are to remain or that are exposed during selective demolition operations.
5. Cover and protect furniture, furnishings, and equipment that have not been removed.
6. Comply with requirements for temporary enclosures, dust control, heating, and cooling specified in Section 01500 "Construction Facilities and Temporary Controls."
C. Temporary Shoring: Provide and maintain shoring, bracing, and structural supports as required to preserve stability and prevent movement, settlement, or collapse of construction and finishes to remain, and to prevent unexpected or uncontrolled movement or collapse of construction being demolished.
1. Strengthen or add new supports when required during progress of selective demolition.

3.4 SELECTIVE DEMOLITION, GENERAL
A. General: Demolish and remove existing construction only to the extent required by new construction and as indicated. Use methods required to complete the Work within limitations of governing regulations and as follows:
1. Provide FAA required notifications and approvals prior to starting work.
2. Obtain necessary crane permits and burn permits prior to commencing work.
3. Proceed with selective demolition systematically, from higher to lower level. Complete selective demolition operations above each floor or tier before disturbing supporting members on the next lower level.
4. Neatly cut openings and holes plumb, square, and true to dimensions required. Use cutting methods least likely to damage construction to remain or adjoining construction.
Use hand tools or small power tools designed for sawing or grinding, not hammering and chopping, to minimize disturbance of adjacent surfaces. Temporarily cover openings to remain.
5. Cut or drill from the exposed or finished side into concealed surfaces to avoid marring existing finished surfaces.
6. Do not use cutting torches until work area is cleared of flammable materials. At concealed spaces, such as duct and pipe interiors, verify condition and contents of hidden space before starting flame-cutting operations. Maintain fire watch and portable fire-suppression devices during flame-cutting operations.
7. Maintain adequate ventilation when using cutting torches.
8. Remove decayed, vermin-infested, or otherwise dangerous or unsuitable materials and promptly dispose of off-site.
9. Remove structural framing members and lower to ground by method suitable to avoid free fall and to prevent ground impact or dust generation.
10. Locate selective demolition equipment and remove debris and materials so as not to impose excessive loads on supporting walls, floors, or framing.
B. Salvaged Items:
1. Contractor to salvage enough existing brick and screen wall block to reuse materials as indicated on drawings.
C. Removed and Salvaged Items:
1. Clean salvaged items.
2. Pack or crate items after cleaning. Identify contents of containers.
3. Store items in a secure area until delivery to Government.
4. Transport items to Government's storage area designated by Government .
5. Protect items from damage during transport and storage.
D. Removed and Reinstalled Items:
1. Clean and repair items to functional condition adequate for intended reuse.
2. Pack or crate items after cleaning and repairing. Identify contents of containers.
3. Protect items from damage during transport and storage.

4. Reinstall items in locations indicated. Comply with installation requirements for new materials and equipment. Provide connections, supports, and miscellaneous materials necessary to make item functional for use indicated.
E. Existing Items to Remain: Protect construction indicated to remain against damage and soiling during selective demolition. When permitted by Contracting Officer, items may be removed to a suitable, protected storage location during selective demolition and reinstalled in their original locations after selective demolition operations are complete.
3.5 SELECTIVE DEMOLITION PROCEDURES FOR SPECIFIC MATERIALS
A. Concrete: Demolish in small sections. Using power-driven saw, cut concrete to a depth of at least 3/4 inch at junctures with construction to remain. Dislodge concrete from reinforcement at perimeter of areas being demolished, cut reinforcement, and then remove remainder of concrete. Neatly trim openings to dimensions indicated.
B. Masonry: Demolish in small sections. Cut masonry at junctures with construction to remain, using power-driven saw, then remove masonry between saw cuts.
C. Concrete Slabs-on-Grade: Saw-cut perimeter of area to be demolished, then break up and remove.
D. Resilient Floor Coverings: Remove floor coverings and adhesive according to recommendations in RFCI's "Recommended Work Practices for the Removal of Resilient Floor Coverings."
E. Roofing: Remove no more existing roofing than what can be covered in one day by new roofing and so that building interior remains watertight and weathertight. See Section 075500 for new roofing requirements.
1. Remove existing roof membrane, flashings, copings, and roof accessories.
2. Remove existing roofing system down to substrate.
3.6 DISPOSAL OF DEMOLISHED MATERIALS
A. General: Except for items or materials indicated to be recycled, reused, salvaged, reinstalled, or otherwise indicated to remain Government's property, remove demolished materials from Project site and legally dispose of them in an EPA-approved landfill.
1. Do not allow demolished materials to accumulate on-site.
2. Remove and transport debris in a manner that will prevent spillage on adjacent surfaces and areas.
3. Remove debris from elevated portions of building by chute, hoist, or other device that will convey debris to grade level in a controlled descent.
B. Burning: Do not burn demolished materials.

C. Disposal: Transport demolished materials off Government's property and legally dispose of them.
3.7 CLEANING
A. Clean adjacent structures and improvements of dust, dirt, and debris caused by selective demolition operations. Return adjacent areas to condition existing before selective demolition operations began.

3.1 EARTH FORMS – USE ONLY WHERE INDICATED ON DRAWINGS
A. Verify lines, levels, and measurement before proceeding.
B. Hand trim sides and bottom of earth forms; remove loose dirt.
3.2 FORMWORK – USE FOR ALL LOCATIONS UNLESS EARTH FORMING IS INDICATED ON DRAWINGS
A. Verify lines, levels, and measurement before proceeding with formwork.
B. Erect form work, including shoring and bracing to achieve design requirements in accordance with ACI 301.
C. Provide bracing to ensure stability of formwork.
D. Arrange and assemble formwork to permit dismantling or stripping. Permit removal or remaining principal shores.
E. Align joints and make watertight.
F. Provide chamfer strips on external corners.
3.3 APPLICATION, FORM RELEASE AGENT
A. Apply form release agent on formwork in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
B. Apply prior to placement of reinforcing steel, anchoring devices, and embedded items.
C. Do not apply form release agent where concrete surfaces will receive special finishes that may be affected by agent. Soak inside surfaces of untreated forms with clean water. Keep surfaces coated prior to placement of concrete.
3.4 INSERTS, EMBEDDED PARTS, AND OPENINGS
A. Provide formed openings where required for items to be embedded in passing through concrete work.
B. Locate and set in place items which will be cast directly into concrete.

C. Coordinate with work of other sections in forming and placing openings, slots, reglets, recesses, sleeves, bolts, anchors, and components of other work.
3.5 FORM CLEANING
A. Clean forms as erection proceeds, to remove foreign matter within forms.
B. Clean formed cavities of debris prior to placing concrete.
C. Flush with water or use compressed air to remove remaining foreign matter. Ensure that water and debris drain to exterior through clean ports.
D. During cold weather, remove ice and snow from within forms. Do not use water to clean out forms, unless formwork and concrete construction proceed within heated enclosure. Use compressed air or other means to remove foreign matter.
3.6 FORMWORK TOLERANCES
A. Formwork tolerances to be constructed in accordance with ACI 301-14.
B. Slope exterior slabs and equipment pads to drain.
C. Slope slabs to floor drains where required.
3.7 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A. Inspect formwork, shoring, and bracing to ensure that work is in accordance with formwork design, and that supports, fastenings, wedges, ties, and items are secure.
B. Do not reuse wood formwork more than four times for concrete surfaces exposed to view.
Do not patch wood formwork.
3.8 FORM REMOVAL
A. Do not remove forms or bracing until concrete has gained sufficient strength to carry its own weight.
B. Loosen forms carefully. Do not wedge pry bars, hammers, or tools against finished concrete surfaces scheduled for exposure to view.

C. Store removed forms in manner that surfaces to be in contact with fresh concrete will not be damaged. Discard damaged forms.
3.9 SEALANT APPLICATION
A. Preparation: Ensure that substrates and joint walls are clean, dry, frost-free and free of all dust, oil, and grease. Interfaces shall be free of curing compounds, and/or saw residue.
Provide backing materials as required. Comply with sealant manufacturer’s instructions.
B. Non-sag Sealants: Allow at least 24 hours between form removal and sealant application.
Apply with a manual or pneumatic caulking gun. Use standard joint sealing practices and proper joint design of 2:1 width to depth ratio when applying. Minimum horizontal joint shall be 1/4" depth and 1/2" width. Provide joint backing material as required.
C. Self-leveling Sealants: Comply with manufacturer’s instructions. Allow at least 24 hours between form removal and sealant application. Condition sealant to temperature recommended by manufacturer. Provide backing material and bond breaker at bottom of joint. Apply when substrates are at the mid-range of movement. Gun sealant into joint and allow sealant to flow and level out as necessary. Maintain a 2:1 width to depth ratio.
Minimum horizontal joint shall be 1/4" depth and 1/2" width.

E. Use calcium chloride only when approved by Architect.
F. Use set retarding admixtures during hot weather only when approved by Architect.
G. Add air entraining agent to normal weight concrete mix for work exposed to exterior.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Verify site conditions.
B. Verify requirements for concrete cover over reinforcement.
C. Verify that anchors, seats, plates, reinforcement, and other items to be cast into concrete are accurately placed, positioned securely, and will not cause hardship in placing concrete.

3.2 PREPARATION
A. Prepare previously placed concrete by cleaning with steel brush and applying bonding agent in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. In locations where new concrete is dowelled to existing work, drill holes in existing concrete, insert steel dowels and pack solid with non-shrink grout.
3.3 PLACING CONCRETE
A. Place concrete in accordance with ACI 301, ACI 304, and ACI 318.
B. Notify FAA Inspector and Architect minimum 24 hours prior to commencement of operations.
C. Ensure reinforcement, inserts, embedded parts, formed joint fillers, and joint devices are not disturbed during concrete placement.
D. Install joint fillers, primer, and sealant in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
E. Separate slabs on grade from vertical surfaces with joint filler.
F. Extend joint filler from bottom of slab to within 1/2…
