Instructions to SAM.gov entities trying to request access to controlled documents or files
If you are logged into SAM.gov as an entity and request access to controlled documents that have been uploaded to the platform, the request goes to the Contracting Officer who can approve or reject your request.
To request access to restricted attachments:
1. The "Access" column on the attachments page will display Controlled. You must have the proper role for the Request Access button to appear.
2. Select Request Access to initiate your request for access.
● You will be prompted to provide a reason why access should be granted to view the restricted documents.
3. Enter your Reason for Access and select Submit.
You will not receive immediate access to view the document. The contracting officer will review your request to grant or reject your access. If your request is rejected, you will be able to make corrections and submit another request if needed. Some agencies may require additional information before granting your request. All questions relating to controlled access or the solicitation itself must be directed towards the point of contact
(POC) listed on the solicitation.
Instructions if you don’t see a “Request Access” button
If you don’t see an option to request access to controlled documents when you log into SAM.gov, you need to go to your company’s Entity Administrator to ask them to change your account’s role permissions.
Every entity on SAM.gov has someone who is registered as an “entity administrator.” This point-of-contact in your entity (or company) is the one who can grant roles and permissions for other colleagues.
You will be able request access if you are registered with an account with one of the types of roles listed below.
STEPS
1. First determine who in your company is registered as an "Entity Administrator" in SAM.gov.
Request that entity administrator in your company to change your role, directions for them to do this are here.
2. The domain/role you need is one of the following:
a. Opportunities Administrator (non-federal)
b. Data Entry (non-federal)
c. Contract Opportunities: Viewer (non-federal)
3. If that Entity Administrator in your company is no longer available or you need to become an Entity Administrator yourself, the instructions are here.
4. Once you have the correct role, follow the instructions to request access as outlined above.
