IV. The following Questions and Answers / Clarifications are the result of bidders request(s) for information:
The following questions and answers provide clarification to the contract documents:
| Q2. | Ref specification 01 45 00 Part 3.4- It appears the project will require a full time QC manager with degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering. In addition to the full time QC manager a full time SSHO is also required onsite which must be separate from the QC manager. It appears the superintendent can fulfill only one role of the SSHO or the QC manager providing they can meet the education and experience requirement. Requirement. Please confirm if the superintendent can fulfill both roles of QC manager and SSHO. Also, is it acceptable for the superintendent to cover the role of the QC manager if the individual has 5 plus years of experience of successful projects similar in scope but does not hold a degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management? |
| A2. | No, as stated in 01 01 10SN.3.40. A – Site Superintendent is 100% dedicated to this project as the Site Superintendent only. |
| Q3. | Ref drawing PD100- Will a ceiling plan be provided for the basement areas with plumbing above the ceilings to determine hard and soft ceilings? Does furniture and equipment exist that will require removal/replacement. Are any of the basement areas considered sterile areas? What type of finishes exist that will require protection? |
| A3. | See ATTACH 16 added sheet AD109 |
| Q4. | Ref spec 14 92 00- Will the new pneumatic tube system be tied into an existing system and if so what manufacturer? Will a drawing be providing to show routing and tie in point of new tube and associated equipment? |
| A4. | Yes, the new pneumatic tube system is tied into the existing building system. See drawing Sheets PP 101 and PP 401 for location of the system. Specification Section 14 92 00 revised. ATTACH 15 |
The existing system manufacturer is Swisslog – Healthcare Contact Kyle Megna, Regional Sales Manager Office: 303-373-7847 Cell: 508-851-0551 Email: kyle.megna@swisslog-healthcare.com
| Q5. | Ref drawing AI102- Locker room 1453 is shown to received LVT-2 flooring. The room finish schedule on drawing AI600 indicates porcelain tile for the locker room. Which is correct? |
| A5. | AI102 – LOCKER ROOM 1453 is to have porcelain tile PT-1 flooring as indicated in Finish Schedule on AI600 in lieu of Luxury Vinyl Tile LVT-2 as indicated on the First Floor Finish Plan. See revised AI102. See ATTACH 16 |
| A6. | The current nurse call system is not capable of adding stations for the Women’s Clinic to it and the stations are no longer available. In addition, it is not compatible with the existing building wide CODE BLUE system. Recent clinic renovations have used the newer Jeron 790 system that has been installed on the campus for Nurse call and CODE BLUE. In addition, the current system in that area does not meet Specification section 27 52 23 that is included in the project documents. Can you provide direction for the system that should be included? |
| A6. | The Jeron 790 System should be used. See revised drawing EY101. See ATTACH 17 |
Q7. Please define the perimeter extents better than currently represented on AD100 - Demo Note 8 - REMOVE CERAMIC TILE FLOORING, ASSUME 2" THICK SET MORTAR BED AND PREPARE/ INFILL AND LEVEL FLUSH TO EXISTING CONCRETE SLAB FOR NEW FLOORING. COORDINATE WITH SHEET AE101.A FOR FLOOR DRAIN LOCATION.
Q7a. Please note that this crosses between phases, afterhours, and trades.
A7a. Yes, it does. This area connects the working kitchen with the main elevator bank that is used to transport food to the patient floors. This path MUST be kept open and dust free throughout the demolition and construction period. This is the reason for the phasing. Contractor to coordinate all work between phasing, after hours, and trades to complete work within phasing as indicated. Coordinate the phasing with the COR.
Q7b. See attached document for our interpretation. (Document “A” Drawing from Bidder is attached.)
A7b. See revised sheet AD100 for clarification. ATTACH 16
| Q8. | AD100 Note 16 wording "CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY FIRST AND SECOND FLOOR OPENING IS CLOSED OFF. IF NOT CLOSED, CONTRACTOR TO CLOSE FLOOR OPENING." The contractor is currently requesting this verification from the AE if these openings are in fact closed? |
| A8. | The original hospital plans show the dumbwaiter shaft starting on the first floor and up through the floors. See photo EP 1 & EP2 for the shaft condition. ATTACH 18 |
| Q9. | Please note that the plans indicate a double column n/s Column line AA and Z. Has AE thought about either dealing with void space or an expansion joint? |
| A9. | The hospital’s original construction documents show this as an expansion joint. The contractor is to provide and install expansion in this location in flooring and ceiling. See expansion joint detail on sheet AE110.B See ATTACH 16 |
| Q10. | Several Rooms with flooring removal have both an Abatement and Selective scope. For example, rooms 1457, 1450, 1408, 1406. Will the abatement contractor abate the entire floor, including mudset removal if any, in rooms where abatement occurs? |
| A10. | Yes, Abatement contractor must remove tile and mudset down to floor slab. |
| Q11. | Can all work be completed during normal (0700 – 1530) daytime work shifts? |
| A11. | NO. GC101: The sheet indicates specific phases for night work - Corridor work in Phase 1 and 3 will need to occur after hours. Additional after-hours work could be required, such as working in occupied spaces, for example. The GC is to coordinate the work schedule with the COR. |
| Q12. | Are there any noise restrictions for this project? If so, please define the hours. |
| A12. | Yes, GC101 – Infection Control General Notes letter “I” discusses vibration or loud work. |
| Q13. | Can the Site Superintendent fulfill the duties of the SSHO as well? |
| A13. | No, as stated in 01 01 10SN.3.40. A – Site Superintendent is 100% dedicated to this project as the Site Superintendent only |
| Q14. | Does the Superintendent have to be an employee of the general contractor? |
| A14. | Yes, as stated in 01 01 10SN.3.40. A. |
| Q15. | Are all subcontractors required to have an OSHA 30-hour competent person on site while performing work? |
| A15. | Yes, as stated in 01 01 10SN.3.11. B. |
| Q16. | What is the anticipated award date for this project, and how soon after award will the L-NTP be issued? |
