1. The location plan indicates (qty.4) sign tags coded “G” and they don’t indicate in the sign drawings an associated sign design for the “G” tags. Please clarify. See attached drawings for reference.

• Refer to detail G on sheet IS900 for information.

• See RFI Image 01 Attachment.

2. The solicitation states that deduct #3 is to deduct work in C712, C713, and C714;

however, drawing G201, keynote 0.3 states that C716, C717, C737G are to be included in the deduct. Please advise.

• See drawing for clarification of deduct #3 scope.

• See RFI Image 02 Attachment.

3. In regard to specification 12 25 16 Patient Bed Panels, Section 2.1, Point B Substitution

Limitations; the referenced specification 01 25 00 Substitution Procedures has not been provided. Could the VA please confirm if alternates are acceptable and if section 01 25

00 is available?

• Basis of Design is Amico. If substitution can conform to specification requirements design intent, and requirements this would be permissible.

4. This area on 1/A127 has 12.01 Double Manual Roller Shades called out on our windows. Above it, Details A/A127 through F/A127 show 12.02 Double Motorized roller shades. Would you like to proceed with 12.01 Manual Shades, or 12.02 Motorized

Shades? Please note this conflict occurs on Details 1/A127 comparing to details A, B, C, D, E, and F/A127.

• Shades are to be manual shades.

5. Can you provide a logistical plan for the elevator to the dumpster location from the jobsite?

• See below and reference drawing 01E-A.107 and 01E-A.100.

• See RFI Image 03 Attachment.

6. Regular business hours for all aspects of demo and saw cutting?

• Cutting and demo can be done during regular business hours.

7. Window removal and how that affects the job site, if any, for the duration of the selective demo.

• Windows are to be removed and replaced, temporary weather barriers may be required while the windows are removed, and new windows are not installed.

8. Is the intent for the windows to be removed from the interior? or Exterior?

• Removing the windows from the interior would be preferable.

9. Reference Spec Section 01 00 00: The first 8 pages of this spec section are missing.

• Please see updated Specs issued via Amendment 0001, 01 00 00 General

Requirements specification section.

10. There is missing information in Specification Section 08 90 00, Louvers, Paragraphs 2.2

B and C.

• This specification section has been removed. The documents indicate carefully removing the existing louver and reusing it with the new air handler. Please see the revised Specs issued via Amendment 0001, specification table of contents.

11. Asbestos Abatement: On Solicitation Page 8 of 90, Paragraph 3, it states that there is no asbestos reported on any mechanical systems for this project. On Drawing G300, Infection Control Note C would indicate that there is asbestos abatement but there is no

Asbestos Abatement Specification or Schedule of Material containing asbestos. Is there asbestos abatement required as part of this project and if so, kindly provide a schedule for this abatement.

• Asbestos Abatement is not required as part of this project.

12. Reference Drawing IF701: Keynote Description for 9.40 and 9.47 are missing.

• 9.40: Provide 6”H integral sheet vinyl wall base. Provide metal top cap.

• 9.47: Provide 6”H integral resinous wall base. Provide metal top cap. Water proofing membrane required under resinous epoxy flooring system.

• All rooms to receive RB-1 for wall base; unless noted otherwise. Refer to attached sheet IF701 for details.

13. There is no Room Finish Schedule. There appears to be notes on a number of drawings indicating floor, wall and ceiling finish requirements by nothing consolidated as only a normal Room Finish Schedule would provide.

• There is no room finish schedule that will be provided. As stated in note (1) in the general finish notes, the finish tag under room name tag denotes finishes in room to receive material. If there is no tag noted, the finish is provided in the general finish notes. Accent finishes are noted on plans or keynoted.

14. Reference Drawing IF 702 – Wall Finish Plan. This drawing is not complete. Please

Note Question #2 above.

• All walls to be painted (P-1); unless noted otherwise. Accent wall finish tags are located on plan. Refer to attached sheet IF702 for details.

• Refer to keynotes 9.45 & 9.46 on page A127 in bid documents for ceiling/bulkhead accent paint locations.

• See RFI Image 04 Attachment.

15. Reference IF 701, Room 735. A floor finish is indicated as SC-1 but no such code or reference is made in the Finish Legend shown on Drawing IF 000. A legend of floor finishes indicated on Drawing IF 701 would be helpful also since a legend is used on the floor plan to indicate type of finish.

• (SC-1) to be high performance flooring coating: Armstrong-Armorseal 8100K.

Refer to attached sheet IF701 for floor pattern legend.

16. All drawing that are provided are indicated as original or revised. We have no idea if the drawing provided are the correct revision. Please indicate all correct drawings as “Bid

Set” that are to be used to bid this project.

• Refer to bid documents in Addendum #1. Bid Documents are identified in the left hand corner with the date of 4/24/2024.

17. Reference Finish Legend, Drawing IF 000: RES 1 is indicated but Specification 09 67

23 20 is for a Resinous Floor RES 2. Please provide a specification for RES 1 and where does RES 2 get used?

• (RES-2) not used in project. Specification 09 67 23 to be used for (RES-1).

• Room Huddle C717 to receive (LVT-1)(RB-1).

• Existing hallway flooring to remain existing. 3 new alcoves to receive (LVT-

1)(RB-1). Refer to sheet IF701 for details.

• See RFI Image 04 Attachment.

19. Reference Drawing A407, Specialty Equipment Schedule: What are the various letter combination meanings. Some are obvious but what is GC/GC and GFE/CI? A complete list of meanings would eliminate any confusion.

• GC= General Contractor; GFE: Government Furnished Equipment; CI:

Contractor Installed; GI: Government Installed.

20. There is no procedure or forms for material substitution. Could Specification Section 12

25 16 – Patient Bed Panels be provided by HSI which is a well-known supplier of these fabricated Patient Bed Panels?

• Basis of Design is Amico. If substitution can conform to specification requirements design intent, and requirements this would be permissible.

21. Per drawing IF702 if material finishes on drawing should be assumed for the entire room or just where the lines on the drawing connect to. (accent walls or full room paint)

• The finish tags that have specific lines connecting to walls are accent locations only. All other walls are to be painted (P-1).

22. Rooms that do not have a specified material finish or paint will NOT have a finish. per

IF702.

• In the new scope of work, all gyp. walls to be painted (P-1) unless noted otherwise on plan. Finish tag under room name denotes finishes in room receive said material. Accent surface to be noted otherwise. Refer to sheet IF702 for revised details.

23. where Gypsum Board ceiling will be installed - can we assume the metal structure and the entirety of the ceiling to be painted to match the gyp. board. Per A127.

• In bid documents on sheet IF000 in the general finish notes, refer to note #3: All gyp. ceilings shall be painted (P-5). Undersides and faces of bulkheads shall be painted the same color as adjacent wall; unless noted otherwise. On sheet A127 bulkheads that are to receive accent paint colors are called out with keynotes.

Refer to keynote 9.45 Paint ceiling (p-2). and 9.46 Paint face of soffit (p-3), underside (p-5).

24. Are there any restrictions on when you can move materials from loading dock to work area?

• It is anticipated that materials should be moved off normal business hours. This is to be arranged and verified with the COR.

25. Please provide Specifications for “Corosion Resistant” piping.

• Please see Specs Section 22 66 00.

26. Can PVC be used in the interstitial spaces (floors 6 and 8) for sanitary drains and vents?

• PVC cannot be used in the interstitial spaces.

27. Some showers are tagged with a P-107 and others P-701. There is only a specification for P-107. Please clarify or provide specifications.

• Fixtures are identified on sheet P601. P-107 water closet, P-701 Shower head & control valve.

28. Please provide a “Basis of Design” for plumbing fixture P-809.

• Whitehall manufacturing #8193.

29. On M401 indicates that a 6” steam branch is coming off a 3” steam main pipe, and that a

3” condensate branch is coming off a 1-1/2” condensate main pipe. Please confirm this is correct.

• This is acceptable to provide a 3” steam pipe and 1.5” condensate pipe.

30. Is the chilled water for temporary AMU “BCXE1” to come from 5” CMS+R near col. G.3 and 8? If so, because it is so far from BCXE1 what size should the piping be to allow for its restrictions?

• Plan note 5 on M701 indicates a 3” main to be run from the 7th floor west

Mechanical Room to the 8th floor interstitial space (near the ICU). This is for combined flow from BCXE-2. 2” CHW runouts from the 3” main will be routed to each BCXE.

31. We would like clarification regarding 23 09 23-5 F. We read it to say that Siemens is the

Controls System Integrator and since the document specifies that the new controls are to be BACnet, any BACnet Controls Contractor can be the installing 23 09 23

Contractor. Is this correct?

We would like to clarify that Siemens as the Control System Integrator is responsible for integrating to the new BACnet control system. Is this correct?

• Facilities has requested that the existing Siemens Desigo control system be extended and modified for the new system. With Siemens being the control vendor, they can also be the System Integrator to ensure their systems, both new and old, are fully-integrated.

32. Is a nurse call and speaker device plan for Cardiology Procedure TEE C737 available?

36C25025B0008 item D. Telecommunications Room(s) (TR): e. Vertical Equipment

Rack. This is different than other Responder 5 nurse call equipment cabinets at the VA

AA site.

• Rauland Responder V equipment cabinet model number NC2828 is an acceptable enclosure as long as it is locked and within a TR and or Signals

Closet.

37. What is the wall plate configuration behind patient room television? For instance, is this a Data Plate that Nurse Call interfaces with or is this an RF plate with integrated Nurse

Call jack?

• Please reference floor plan, symbol at TV locations and Sheet T501. Sheet T501 has a diamond R subscript 1 or 2 variation of faceplate.

38. Do we provide a 2JACK station that is not shown on floor plans? Specification Section

Blue main wiring.

• The Network will be available for use, but it is the responsibility of the contractor to replace all old network wiring with new wiring.

40. Are the following cables and colors acceptable for the Nurse Call System?

1. West Penn Wire 25302BGY1000:3C 20G STRD BC SHLD PLEN interface to

The above listed: Power limited cabling must meet environment in which it is installed e.g. plenum rated within a plenum space.

West Penn interface to TV and Light Cable - Grey is acceptable.

West Penn power Cable - White is acceptable.

West Penn 2C/18AWG Stranded - Black is acceptable.

41. I am asking about the seismic requirement that was listed in the second to last column of the AHU schedule. We are wondering if they are referring to the construction of the unit or how the unit is attached to the floor. IP = 1.5 is also the highest level of seismic restraint which might be a little much for Ann Arbor.

• IP = 1.5. The building is an “essential facility” meaning Risk Category IV per

Chapter 16 of the ASCE 7.
