QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
RFI Question:
1. This area is restricted to key card access, how will workers move in and out?
Request key for back door coming from parking garage stairwell. Once one worker accesses thru that door, they can let other workers in thru main ED doors.
There will also be ED personnel there at all times to allow access.
2. Please confirm the trash route to the dumpster, will we be using Service elevator S6.
Yes, S6 or S7.
3. Please confirm on map contractor laydown area and job trailer location/hookups.
Reference 01 00 00 section 1.5 subsection E which states “Contractor staging will be limited to area(s) assigned by COR. The exact location and size of staging area will be as determined by COR based on project complexity and availability at time of award.”
4. Will the contractor laydown area fit a 20- or 30-yard dumpster?
Reference 01 00 00 section 1.5 subsection E which states “Contractor staging will be limited to area(s) assigned by COR. The exact location and size of staging area will be as determined by COR based on project complexity and availability at time of award.”
5. Confirm number of sliding doors and swinging doors to be replaced.
15 Tri-fold doors
6. Will the metal strip along the walls (where flooring terminates) remain in place or will it be replaced with a new product?
New metal strip will be needed in areas called out to receive cove base with resilient sheet flooring.
7. Please confirm if painting or drywall patching will be the contractor’s responsibility around doors.
Reference Updated Drawing AE101 General Note C. which states “All miscellaneous painting not identified in the drawings but necessary for the completion of the work shall be included in the project and match existing adjacent paint in color and finish. Contractor means and methods may result in a varying degree of paint required.”
8. What will the approved working hours be?
For work occurring in the ED the contractor will be permitted to work between the hours of 6 AM to 6 PM Monday thru Friday except for noise-generating work which will need to occur between 5PM and 6AM. Parking garage work will need to occur between 7PM and 7AM on weekdays and between 8AM and 6AM on weekends. All parking garage work must be coordinated with the VA COR.
9. Is a cost loaded schedule required or is a CPM schedule acceptable?
Cost loaded is required.
10. Is the Site Superintendent allowed to be the SSHO and QC if they hold the necessary certifications?
Yes, SSHO, Superintendent, and QC may be the same person.
11. When the cove base removed are we responsible for fixing the damages to the wall?
Yes, Reference Updated Drawing AE101 General Note C. which states “All miscellaneous painting not identified in the drawings but necessary for the completion of the work shall be included in the project and match existing adjacent paint in color and finish. Contractor means and methods may result in a varying degree of paint required.”
12. Where can negative air within the containment be exhausted?
If no exhaust duct is available, may exhaust into hallway.
13. How long will the VA take to turn over an area for renovation after we request it?
Reference 01 00 00 section 1.6 subsection I.2 Phasing which states “VA relocated out of proposed space – see phasing drawings for areas. This is estimated to be 3 days prior to the start of each phase.”
14. For Factor 3 – Past Performance, are CPARS acceptable instead of Past Performance Questionnaires?
