Question #: 01 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Work Hours Question: Please confirm work hours for this project. Are there any specific tasks or trade division that must be on overtime (01 Infection Control, 02 Demolition)? Are there any areas of work that must be on overtime (Hallways, Occupied Areas, Etc.)? Response: Work hours shall be determined by VAMC.

Question #: 02 Sheet: N/A Spec: General Conditions Topic: Material Staging Question: Please confirm if contract has material staging location at facility. If so, where is it? Is prime contractor responsible for any costs associated with staging? Response: It shall be the responsibility of the Prime Contractor to include all associated costs of performing work per drawings and specifications.

Question #: 04 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Phasing Question: Please confirm if there are any phasing constraints. Will prime contractors be allowed a certain number of rooms per ‘phase’? We typically see 4-6 rooms down at a time for phased work Response: Phasing of construction and quantity of rooms to be worked on simultaneously shall be determined by VAMC.

Question #: 05 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Phasing Question: Please confirm if prime contractor can work on multiple buildings in each phase, or if a specific work sequence is to be followed? Response: Quantity of building which can be worked on simultaneously shall be determined by VAMC.

Question #: 06 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Submittal Exchange Question: Is prime contractor responsible for Submittal Exchange, or will VA provide the services and be responsible for the costs? Response: Provide submittals per specification section 013323.

Question #: 07 Sheet: N/A Spec: 28 05 00 1.3.C.1 Topic: Local Facility Question: Spec section states “The fire alarm contractor shall have a local service facility. The facility shall be located within four hours of the project site.” Please confirm fire alarm contractors must be within four-hour range of site in order to perform work as a part of awarded contract. The contractor shall bid per drawings and specifications.

Spec: N/A Topic: As-builts of Existing Buildings Question: Are there any as-builts available for prime contractor to understand the existing finishes of each floor of building? It is impossible to understand what the finishes are in each area, unless given approximate quantities and locations for a design-bid-build job. Any information is helpful, as the walk thru did not provide sufficient time or information to quantity this pre-bid. Response: As-built drawing shall be furnished by VAMC at VAMC discretion, this project is not a design-build project but a competitive bid project.

Question #: 09 Sheet: N/A Spec: 23 31 00 Topic: Existing Raceways Question: Can existing conduits and raceways be used to install new system, or will all new conduit be required? Response: Only new conduits shall be permitted for the new installation, Question #: 10 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Notifier System Question: The existing system manufacturer is a Notifier/FireLite System. Due to the past issues with the existing system and system manufacturer will Notifier still be accepted as an approved manufacturer on this project? Provide bid per drawings and specifications, final bid approval at discretion of VAMC.

Question #: 11 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Ceiling Types Question: Please provide ceiling types for each room ‘function’ as we were not given access to all areas of the bid. Response: Determining ceiling type in every room is out of the A/E scope of work.

Question #: 12 Sheet: E-001 Spec: N/A Topic: Demolition General Notes / New Fire Alarm General Notes Question: Is prime contractor to include the (10) smoke / fire dampers, (10) automatic door operators, and (1) duct smoke detectors as a lump sum price included in their base bid? We see no alternates on the CLIN schedule, therefore want to confirm. If so, can a specification be provided for automatic door operators? Response: There are no alternates, the contractor shall bid one lump sum.

Question #: 13 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Infection Control Question: What infection control class should prime contractor assume for the duration of the project? There is no specification provided detailing this information. Is there lowe class requirements for non-dust generating floors as IC Class I or II? Furthermore, is hard barrier required at each Class IV and III room or will plastic or Edgeguard be acceptable? Response: The ICRA standards shall be coordinated with VAMC per the FA series fire alarm drawings.

Spec: 07 84 00 Topic: Fire Inspector Question: Is prime contractor to engage a qualified inspector to perform inspections / reports or Firestopped systems of each room prior to turnover? Or, can this be completed at once for all systems? The VAMC shall determine how it receives inspections / reports, refer to Fire Stopping specification section 078400.

Question #: 15 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Hallway Work Question: Is prime contractor allowed to be in hallways during normal hours? Are there any ICRA requirements required in the hallways? Response: The VAMC shall determine working protocol and standards at their facility.

Question #: 16 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Demo Vs. New Question: Is prime contractor to run all new fire alarm work prior to demolishing the old system? This significantly changes phasing and how work will be performed if a parallel system is required.

Response: A parallel system is required per drawings and specifications.

Question #: 17 Sheet: 1.FA104A Spec: As-Builts Topic: As-Builts Question: Please confirm type of drawings required for “Paradigm Engineering coordination drawings required at conclusion of the project.” Is there a specific format these coordination drawings are to be in? Response: Coordination shall accurately reflect installation performed.

Question #: 18 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Exterior Work Question: Is there any work to be performed between buildings that requires excavation and restoration of these areas? Can the Engineer of Record provide trench profile with soil and surface conditions if this is required? Response: The contractor shall refer to drawings and specifications.

Question #: 19 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Hallway Work Question: Do all hallways have ACT as the finished ceiling? Response: The contractor shall determine ceiling type at site, refer to specifications Gypsum Board 092900 and Acoutical Ceilings 095100 for additional information.

Question #: 20 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Room Finishes Question: Are there any specific ‘functions’ of rooms that are drywall finishes areas? (Examples include SPS, OR Suites, Etc.) We want to be sure we understand area of cut and patch vs. ceiling replacement.

Spec: N/A Topic: ACT Question: In areas that devices are scheduled to be removed, will prime contractor need to provide new ceiling tile for each device that creates ‘void’ in ceiling tile. If so, please provide specification of ceiling tiles so we can accurately account for new materials. Response: The contractor shall replace ceiling tile as required, refer to acoustical specification 095100.

Question #: 22 Sheet: N/A Spec: 09 91 00 Topic: Painting Question: In areas that devices are scheduled to be removed and a patch is required on wall – does the entire wall need to be painted seam to seam? Or, can the patch be painted in only? Response: The contractor shall surtface as required in Pain specififcation 099100.

Question #: 23 Sheet: N/A Spec:26 05 00 Topic: Conduit Question: In areas that devices are scheduled to be located on block / masonry wall – is surface mounted conduit acceptable in these areas? Response: The contractor shall field coordinate wall surface type at site, surface mounted assembly is acceptable in instances where cutting and patching is not feasible, refer to specification Wiring Devices 262726, surface mounted devices shall be at approval of VAMC and A/E prior to installation.

Question #: 24 Sheet: N/A Spec:26 05 00 Topic: Wall / Ceiling Plates Question: In areas that devices are scheduled to be removed and not re-installed, is it acceptable to provide stainless steel cover plate at back box? Response: The A/E has no objection to stainless steel cover plates.

Question #: 25 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Final Clean Question: Who is responsible for final clean once contractor performs construction clean once work area is complete? Response: Clean up shall be per specification Demolition section 024100.

Question #: 26 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Elevator Work Question: Will prime contractor need to contract elevator contractor to make connections to their controls? If so, who is the point of contact for the current elevator maintenance contract? Response:

The contractor shall install new fire alarm devices for elevator as shown on drawings and specifications, point of contact yet to be determined.

Question #: 27 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Card Access Work

Question: Will prime contractor need to contract an access controls contractor for any connections to fire alarm system for automatic unlock? If so, please provide point of contact for access control contractor at facility . Response: The contractor shall provide (10) automatic door operators as indicated on drawing E-001, the point of contact is yet to be determined.

Question #: 28 Sheet: N/A Spec: N/A Topic: Wire Mold Question: Is wiremold an acceptable equivalent to be utilized in lieu of opening walls / patching at locations? Response: The contractor shall field coordinate wall surface type at site, surface mounted assembly is acceptable in instances where cutting and patching is not feasible, refer to specification Wiring Devices 262726, surface mounted devices shall be at approval of VAMC and A/E prior to installation
