About this file
This document contains responses to questions regarding a federal solicitation for water storage tank specifications. The responses clarify that the required water storage tank should be a 20-foot diameter, 50,000 gallon steel tank with insulation, as indicated on the civil and structural drawings, rather than the 80,000 gallon tank size listed in some specifications. The responses also attach an amended specification section and provide an image file requested in another question for a Department of Veterans Affairs solicitation to replace boilers in Building 10.

Amendment 0005 Responses to RFI.
Question 114: What is the correct capacity of the new steel water tank? The specifications call for a 30’ diameter 80,000‐gallon tank. The civil drawings measure 20’ diameter. The structural foundation drawings measure 20’ diameter. The plumbing drawings state 50,000‐gallon tank in several locations, but the measurement on the detailed water tank drawings in the plumbing drawings measure a 30’ diameter, which would calculate for an 80,000‐gallon tank. Is the tank to be 80,000 gallons or 50,000 gallons? If the specification is correct, and it’s to be 80,000 gallons, the structural and civil drawings will need to be revised.
VA Response: The Plumbing specifications and drawings should match the civil and structural drawings by indicating a 20’ diameter 50,000‐gallon tank.
Specifications 331615 section 2.1.B.1 Tank Capacity and Dimensions should read as follows:
a. Top Capacity Level (TCL) 15.5 foot
b. Bottom Capacity Level (BCL) 1 foot
c. Diameter 20 foot
d. Tank Height Max 24 foot
e. Top of Foundation Elevation 12 inch
Specifications 331615 section 2.1.C.1 Tank Capacity and Dimensions should read as follows:
a. The minimum operating capacity of the storage tank will be 50,000 US gallons.
b. The tank diameter will be 20 feet.
c. The height of the tank, top of foundation to High Water Level, shall be 16.5 feet.
Drawing P‐502 is not to scale, and Detail 4 should read as follows: (See Page 2 of this document/Question 114 VA Response continued).

Question 114 VA Response
Question 115: RFI 19 stated that a revised specification was issued with this amendment, but none was ever posted in Sam.gov.
Question 19: (33 16 15): Subsection 2.5 calls for the tank to be heated but does not reference the tank being insulated. Normally these larger field erected tanks are insulated as well to provide a more efficient Freeze Protection system. Is it the intent for the tank to be insulated?
VA Response: Insulation is to be included with the water tank. This tank is a fill and pass thru operation with a heater.
