No. RFI Proposed Resolution
1 To price the impact windows need 3 things spec’d, UFC minimum antiterror standard, charge weight and standoff distance. The spec has only provided the UFC 04-010-01 minimum antiterror standard but not the charge weight or stand off distance. We need those to get pricing, please provide
Additional Information
WME Response:
Building 6 is classified as a security level 1 facility per the “Risk Management Process for Federal Facilities” published by the Interagency Security Committee. Security level 1 facilities only need to be designed for the minimum antiterrorism and force protection standards per UFC 4-101-01. Per section 3-1.11 all new glazing in new and existing federal facilities shall be 1/4-inch nominal polycarbonate or laminated glass consisting of two 1/8-inch glass panes bonded with minimum 0.030-inch blast resistant interlayer. Minimum bite to be
1.5 times the polycarbonate thickness. Security level 1 facilities do not need to be designed for specific blast loads at specific standoff distances if these requirements are met.
2 No window manufacturer can make a level 3 impact window that is operable, all window units have to be fixed. I can find a simulated double hung window. Please advise how to proceed
Additional Information
WME Response:
The only operable windows on the second floor that have been specified are in the day room (room 237). These windows are to be casement type windows. The window provided as a basis for design (Wasau 4000i-DT) is available as an operable casement window and meets the human impact resistance requirements for this project.
