Project 2 Specific 518-18-035 Aluminum frame type A6 on project 2 has two different glass types indicated, type
5A, and 5. There is no glass type 5 in the glazing schedule. Should we quote both panels as type 5A?
A501 A/E (Tompkins Architects) Response:

518-18-035 Spec section 02 82 11 1.1.2 B of project 2 includes a reference to the asbestos report for quantities and types of materials to be removed. No asbestos report is provided in the specifications. Asbestos note 1 on drawing D102 says to remove windows and caulking. 40 CFR 761 regulates adjacent materials (PCB Remediation Waste) containing PCBs greater than 1 ppm as a result of a spill or leaching from the source material (Caulking). The documents ask to remove the windows and caulking. Please confirm that we are only to scrape of the caulk and remove the windows.
02 82 11 A/E (Tompkins Architects) Response:
518-18-035 Spec section 084113, 2.1 B 3 indicates the storefront system is to be blast resistant and calls out certain criteria. Per the Physical Security Design Manual for VA Facilities; Mission Critical Facilities, the storefront manufacturer requires the following information to supply proper pricing.:
Pressure (psi), Impulse (psi‐msec), Glazing Performance Condition (1, 2, 3a, 3b, 4, 5), Rotation Limit or Deflection Limit (degrees‐or‐L/), Ductility Ratio Limit, Glass Makeup (applicable to the above), if Rebound Loads are to be considered during design.
Please provide the required information so that we may obtain accurate pricing.
08 41 13 A/E (Tompkins Architects) Response:
NOTE to A/E from VA COR: why is the storefront blast resistant when the windows are not blast resistant? What is driving the blast resistance for the storefront? The Physical Security Design Manual for VA Facilities; Mission Critical Facilities, section
7.1.2 Existing Facility‐Blast Resistance states "No additional physical security requirements." I suggest, if we are not violating the Physical Security Design Manual, that this requirement is removed. Please respond.
518-18-035 Aluminum storefront spec section 08 41 13, 2.9A1 calls for a clear anodized finish.
In the same spec section 08 41 13, 1.8 B calls for a painted finish with a 20‐year warranty. The painted finish can provide a 20‐year warranty however the clear anodized finish would not have any warranty. Please clarify if you want a painted finish or an anodized finish
08 41 13 A/E (Tompkins Architects) Response:
518-18-035 Drawing A204, elevations 1 & 2 of A201, and some other drawings reference GFRC and refer to the specification but there is no such specification provided. Please provide the specification, Basis of Design, and sales representative contact informa on for the GFRC product.
A201 & A204 A/E (Tompkins Architects) Response:
518-18-035 The window schedule on drawing A501 includes type A4 storefront but we do not see this anywhere on the floor plan. Please clarify where A4 is to be used.
A501 A/E (Tompkins Architects) Response:
518-18-035 Images of doors 19A & 19B show a swing door in drawing A101 however the door schedule, door & frames schedule notes and door types in A501 call for a sliding glass door. Please clarify.
A101 A/E (Tompkins Architects) Response:
518-18-035 The finish schedule on A701 & A702 includes CPT‐1 but we do not see such a product in the finish plans. Please identify the CPT‐1 carpet locations.
