About this file
This is a Prevailing Wage Threshold Levels document issued by the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Industrial Compliance, Bureau of Wage and Hour Administration, applicable to public improvement projects within Ohio as of January 1, 2024. The document establishes mandatory prevailing wage rate determinations that must be included in project specifications and bidding documents for construction work performed by contract. For building construction projects, the thresholds are $250,000 for new construction and $75,000 for reconstruction, enlargement, alteration, repair, remodeling, renovation, or painting activities. For road, street, alley, sewer, ditch, and bridge-related construction work, the thresholds are $98,974 for new construction and $29,653 for reconstruction and related activities.
The threshold levels are adjusted biennially by the Director of the Ohio Department of Commerce according to the Building Cost for Skilled Labor Index published by McGraw-Hill's Engineering News-Record, with annual adjustments capped at three percent increase or decrease. Before advertising for bids, contracting, or undertaking construction with internal forces for any public improvement project, the Public Authority must obtain the prevailing wage rate determination from the Ohio Department of Commerce. Questions regarding prevailing wage threshold requirements should be directed to the Bureau of Wage and Hour Administration at 614-644-2239 or through their office in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
