About this file

This document is a detailed project specification for the repair and replacement of the existing overhead Feeder 5 electrical distribution lines at Ascension Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF) in the South Atlantic Ocean. The project involves comprehensive electrical infrastructure work, including removing existing overhead distribution lines, poles, hardware, guy cables/anchors, and electrical equipment, and replacing them with new overhead open wire and triplex circuit infrastructure. Key components include installing new poles, pole hardware, guy cables/anchors, electrical equipment, a Load Break Switch, manholes, and underground duct banks near Hogan's Bypass to allow distribution lines to pass underneath roads without clearance issues.

The specification provides extensive technical requirements for materials and installation, covering concrete poles, medium-voltage cables, overhead transmission and distribution equipment, transformers, switches, and telecommunications optical backbone cabling. The project requires precise installation methods, including specific grounding techniques, cable pulling procedures, and comprehensive testing protocols. The work will be performed under a Department of the Air Force Space Command contract, with a focus on ensuring high-quality electrical infrastructure that meets stringent military engineering standards and performance requirements.
