About this file

This document is a First Floor Demolition Plan for Unit B of a middle school renovation project in Whitehall District Schools, Michigan, part of the WDS Bond Proposal Phase 1. The plan provides detailed demolition instructions and specifications for the selective removal of building components within the existing structure, including mechanical equipment, wall systems, windows, doors, flooring, plumbing fixtures, and electrical equipment. Key demolition tasks include the complete removal of an existing underground utility tunnel (approximately 4 feet wide and 2 feet deep, constructed with concrete over metal decking), preparation of concrete floors for new utility connections, removal and reinstallation of kitchen equipment designated for reuse, and salvage of unistrut components and panel molding for reintegration into new construction. The plan emphasizes contractor responsibility for inspecting existing conditions, verifying dimensions, coordinating with structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical trades, protecting existing finishes to remain, and patching all construction-related damage to match existing conditions.

The demolition scope requires contractors to salvage and preserve specific materials including carpet tile (not to be sent to landfill, coordinated with manufacturer reclamation), unistrut, and wood panel molding, while managing proper disposal and staging of removed materials. Contractor responsibilities include obtaining necessary permits, conducting saw-cutting operations per utility plans, protecting all racking and finishes scheduled to remain, and coordinating extensively with the owner, architect, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing teams to ensure seamless integration with new work. The project sheet is dated September 30, 2026, and references the project address as 401 SE Elizabeth Street, Whitehall, Michigan 49461 (Project No. 25-146).
