Update #5 ·
What is the existing brand of the lighting controls in the ORs
Response: The existing overall lighting controls in the OR s are just wall switches. The light booms are existing Steris controls. New lighting will be dimming controls as detailed in the construction documents and specifications.
General note A on E1-0 states that outages have to be completed in less than 30 minutes. It s unlikely we can transfer feeds, especially in the larger panels, to temporary power in less than 30 minutes without doing at least some of the work energized. Is it the intent of the VA that we work energized? Could we have 2 hours and do the work deenergized?
Response: This work will be done deenergized to comply with VA safety standards. A 2-hour outage is acceptable if the contractor follows a prioritized list that will be provided by the VA for which feeds are most critical to get transferred first. Breaker #2 Lab Cool RM 1-171 will need to be transferred first and has a maximum downtime of 30 minutes.
DPEHB3 shows 9 existing loads that need to be given temporary power while we install the new gear. Only one of the feeds has a location. Could we have the locations of the additional 8 loads.
Response:
1-CP-1 + 1-CP-2 (Chilled Water pumps, Chiller Room, Basement)
Lab Cool RM 1-171 (Walk-in Cooler, Lab, First Floor)
1-AC-6 & 1-AC-7 (Air compressors, Chiller Room, Basement)
Spare May be a spare or may be feeding air compressor in Chiller Room
1-VP-1 & 1-VP-2 (Vacuum pumps, Chiller Room, Basement)
1-AC Dental (Likely feeding air compressor, Chiller Room, Basement)
Med Comp 1-AC-2 + 1-AC-3 OFF NOT IN USE
TX EI EL1 (Transformer either located in MRI Addition or Chiller Room)
No Name (Unsure of what this is feeding)
MCCEHP-1 Penthouse (Emergency power panel, Penthouse)
There aren t any fire alarm drawings, please confirm that there won t be any duct detectors or other fire alarm initiation or notification devices needed.Â
Response:
Correct, there are existing notification devices in the ORs and ductwork but there is no scope of work for these devices.
Specification Number: SECTION 23 09 23
There seems to be a conflict on the plans. Note 11 on M2-2B and Note 15 on M2-2A require the control contractor: PROVIDE & FIELD INSTALL HEPA FILTER LOADING INDICATOR THAT IS TO REPORT BACK TO THE BAS. Note 2 on the same plan pages requires: LABEL EACH HEPA LAMINAR FLOW DIFFUSER ON FACEPLATE, TYP. ASSOCIATE FACEPLATE NUMBER WITH FILTER IN Johnson Controls METASYS FOR EASE OF MAINTENANCE. TYP. ALL LAMINAR FLOW DIFFUSERS. Note 2 indicates 12 +12 BI must be provide to the BAS per M2-2A. Note 2 indicates 9 +9 BI must be provide to the BAS per M2-2B.
M5-1 sequence of operation for OR-1 to 4 indicates: FILTER MONITORING:
FOR ONE FILTER PER LAMINAR FLOW SYSTEM, PROVIDE AN ALARM TO THE OPERATOR INTERFACE WHEN THE DIFFERENTIAL STATIC PRESSURE EXCEEDS 1.5" W.C. (ADJUSTABLE). REFER TO PLANS FOR TOTAL NUMBER OF FILTER DIFFUSERS. EACH ROOM WILL HAVE IT'S
OWN ALARM. Per this sequence only 4 BI are required as opposed to 9 + 9+ 12 +12 BI per other notes on plans.
Johnson Controls may not bid this project because the schedule is not feasible to install 9 + 9+ 12+12 BI . The schedule is feasible only 4 BI required by the sequence of operation shown on M5-1 sequence of operation for OR-1 to 4 .
Please clarify how many BI are required for FILTER MONITORING as decried above?
Response: In each OR, only one HEPA filter loading indicator should be installed & monitored per OR ceiling system. The filter should be labeled per Sheet M5-2 and Metasys should reflect this naming convention.
Each individual HEPA laminar flow diffuser with should be labeled individually per M5-2 and
Metasys should reflect this naming convention. Per note 5 on M6-0 diffusers will have a filter
indicator light that will report back to the BAS.
There will be a total of 34 HEPA filters monitored via the BAS (4 total for OR's & 30 for support
spaces).
Also reference Keynotes 13,14, & 15 on Sheet M2-2A and
Keynotes 9,10,11 on M2-2B for scope related to this topic.

OR HVAC PH 2
Specification Number: SECTION 23 09 23
The specification 23 09 23 indicates BACnet IP protocol controllers are required in one area of the
specification. In another part of the specification 23 09 23 it indicates BACnet MS\TP protocol
controllers might be allowed.
Please clarify that DDC controllers that work on BACnet MS\TP protocol are acceptable for this
project.
Response: DDC controllers on BACnet MS/TP protocol are acceptable to use.
