BRIDGE CRANES 14330 - 1
SECTION 14330 - BRIDGE CRANES
PART 1 - GENERAL
RELATED DOCUMENTS
Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
SUMMARY
This Section includes bridge cranes with runway electrification with electric hoists.
Related Sections: The following Sections contain requirements that relate to this Section:
Division 5 Sections "Structural Steel" and “Steel Joists” for support and bracing of bridge crane runways.
Division 5 Section "Metal Fabrications" for members required for anchorage.
Division 16 Sections for electrical connections.
SUBMITTALS
General: Submit each item in this Article according to the Conditions of the Contract and Division 1 Specification Sections.
Product data for each bridge crane system, indicating capacity, size, operation, controls, and safety features.
Shop drawings detailing fabrication and assembly of bridge crane systems, as well as procedures and diagrams. Include dimensioned drawings showing plans, elevations, and sections; also include details showing field connections, required clearances for operation and servicing, coordination with building structure, and relationships with other construction. Indicate maximum dynamic and static loads imposed on building structure at support points. Show location of power connections, methods of suspending and anchoring runway, and conditions requiring accessories.
Show plans, sections, elevations, and details at each system.
Show runway layout.
Coordination drawings showing runway layouts and structural support systems.
BRIDGE CRANES 14330 - 2
Wiring diagrams detailing wiring for power, signal, and control systems and differentiating clearly between manufacturer-installed and field-installed wiring. Indicate maximum and average power demands.
Operation data for bridge cranes.
Maintenance data, to be included in the operation and maintenance manual specified in Division 1.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Installer Qualifications: Engage an Installer approved by the Manufacturer.
Standards: Comply with the following:
CMAA-74, bridge crane, ASTM A 538-80 Grade 80-55-06, wheels.
ANSI B30.16, overhead hoists ANSI/ASME HST-IM, performance standard for electric chain hoists.
PROJECT CONDITIONS
Field Measurements: Verify dimensions and clearances by field measurements before runway fabrication, and show recorded measurements on final shop drawings. Coordinate fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid delaying the Work.
COORDINATION AND SCHEDULING
Coordinate layout and installation of bridge cranes with other work including light fixtures, HVAC equipment, fire-suppression system, and other mechanical and electrical systems.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
For bridge cranes refer to Data Sheets at the end of this Section.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
EXAMINATION
Examine structural systems with Installer present, for compliance with manufacturer's installation instructions, and other conditions affecting performance of systems. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
INSTALLATION
BRIDGE CRANES 14330 - 3
Install bridge cranes per manufacturer’s recommendations and instructions.
DEMONSTRATION
Startup Services: Provide the services of a factory-authorized service representative to provide startup service and to demonstrate and train Government’s maintenance and operating personnel as specified below.
Test and adjust controls and safeties. Replace damaged or malfunctioning controls and equipment.
Train Government's personnel on procedures and schedules related to startup and shutdown, operation, troubleshooting, servicing, and preventive maintenance.
Test and adjust bridge cranes and accessories. Replace damaged or malfunctioning devices.
Review data in the operation and maintenance manuals. Provide four (4) copies of the O&M manuals to the Contracting Officer’s Representative.
Schedule training with Contracting Officer’s Representative with at least 7 days' advance notice.
