SECTION 03 37 23 Page 8 proportioning studies are available for review in the District office.
Tables 1-1, 1-2, and 1-3 below show the application(s) of each mixture, along with required mixture properties and proportions. Preliminary mixture proportions provided in Table 1-3 below are subject to adjustment by COR as needed prior to and during construction to ensure concrete properties are suitable. Preliminary mixture proportions in this table are not contract requirements, but are provided to inform Contractor of anticipated proportions so that equipment can be sized accordingly. Final mixture proportions will be determined during TRIAL BATCHING.

1.2.2 Proportioning Responsibility
1.2.2.1 Government Responsibility
The proportions of all materials entering the RCC, RCC facing, bedding mortar, and grout will be furnished by the Government. The Contractor is responsible to monitor aggregate and sand moisture content and properly adjust the directed mix proportions at batching to ensure the mix has the appropriate free water content and mix design yield. If the mix proportions need to be adjusted for any other reason, the proportions will be changed as necessary by the Government. Field adjustments will be directed by the Government, as needed to the batch weights, to maintain the necessary consistency and wet concrete properties to allow full compaction and prevent segregation. Changes by the Government to batch weights include, but are not limited to: cement, pozzolan, aggregate, admixture dosage, and water content. Frequent changes to these batch weights shall be considered usual and can be expected to be made during the course of each day's placement.
1.2.2.2 Contractor Responsibility
a. The proportions of the Miscellaneous Conventional Concrete shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. The Contractor shall perform the necessary mixture proportioning study to demonstrate the Miscellaneous Conventional Concrete meets the requirements of the specifications and is appropriate for the intended application. The Miscellaneous Conventional Concrete shall have a maximum water to cementitious materials ratio of 0.45 by weight. Cementitious materials content is defined as the cement content plus the fly ash content. The Contractor shall submit the final mixture design that shows the proportions to be used.
