About this file
This is a geotechnical core analysis document presenting penetration resistance and vibration time data from a seismic survey conducted in the Sea Bright Borrow Area off the coast of New Jersey. The document displays a graph with penetration time (measured in min/ft on the y-axis) plotted against vibration time (measured in minutes on the x-axis) for core sample BB-74, which was extracted at a water depth of 33 feet.
The core description indicates two distinct soil layers: the upper layer (0.0' to 4.5') consists of sand with fine to medium composition and light brown coloring transitioning to light gray, while the lower layer (4.5' to 28.0') comprises fine to medium sand with trace coarse sand and fine gravel interspersed with shell fragments in dark gray coloring. Two test runs are marked on the penetration graph at depths of approximately 14 to 16 feet and 28 feet. The survey was prepared by Alpine Ocean Seismic Survey, Inc. (80 Oak Street, Norwood, New Jersey 07648) for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, with grid coordinates referenced to the New Jersey State Transverse Mercator system (X - 2200170, Y - 581890).
