About this file

This solicitation is for maintenance dredging of portions of the New York and New Jersey Harbor's Arthur Kill 50' Reach Federal Navigation Project. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposes to remove approximately 125,000 cubic yards of selected shoals to a depth of -50 feet MLLW plus one foot allowable overdepth, using a mechanical dredge with an environmental clamshell bucket. Multiple barges and tugboats will be needed to perform dredging, dewatering, and unloading operations. The dredged material must meet all federal, state, and local placement criteria and the contractor must provide all necessary permits for transportation, dewatering, processing, and final upland placement by a 35-day deadline after notification of being the apparent low bidder. Work must commence within five days of the notice to proceed and maintain an integrated production rate of at least 2,500 cubic yards per day, to minimize channel closure impacts. The contract is estimated between $10-25 million and is anticipated to be awarded in June/July 2023 for work from August to October 2023, with $2,540 per day liquidated damages for delays.
