Warrior Games 2019 An early version of newer CMP targets was used to render all 3D images for this range; the actual target cover face and pellet curtain system frame used were different from this design but functioned in the same manner.

When great lighting backfires… Notice the light bloom from the venue spot lights; the light positioning cast shadows onto sections of the range making it difficult for some athletes to see their targets. The lighting also washed out the results screens.

Location: Holaday Athletic Center, USAFA, Colorado Springs, CO
Target Systems: CMP (Floor Stand)
Safety Wall: Pellet Curtain
Service Team Precision Equipment Storage: Securable Chain Link Cages
Holaday Athletic Center also housed the Archery Event and served as an inclement weather shelter for the adjacent Track & Field Events.
This venue had excellent spectator seating (bleachers).
Although Holaday Athletic Center appeared to have excellent lighting, depending on the time of day, excessive sunlight blinded athletes and spectators during the competition.
The venue floor was a plastic modular cover over artificial turf field. Both the subtle movement of the flooring and static electricity buildup created challenges throughout.

Location: Special Forces Shoot House, Fort Carson, CO
Number of Target Lanes: 30
Target Systems: SUIS (Wall Mount)
Safety Wall: Plywood Panel System
Service Team Precision Air System Storage: Open/Community/Non-securable
Prior to the start of WG18, Service Teams were able to train at this indoor tactical range. It is very well suited for training only as it has limited-to-no spectator capability.
It also served triple duty as both the Archery Training Venue and Cycling Training Staging and Maintenance Building.
Warrior Games 2018 (Training)
Due to the nature of this facilities design, there are only lights at the front-end firing line and far down range where the Archery targets are illuminated.

Location: McCormick Place Chicago Convention Center, Chicago, IL
Target Systems: SUIS (Wall Mount)
Safety Wall: Plywood Panel System
Service Team Equipment Storage: Open/Community/Non-securable
McCormick Place Chicago Convention Center showcased other sports to include:
Archery Sitting Volleyball Wheelchair Basketball
The venue was well-lit and had excellent spectator seating (bleachers).
The absence of separate lockable rooms or securable chain-link-style cages for Team Storage generated some friction among Service Team athletes and coaches.
Warrior Games 2017
SUIS wall-mount targets were used at WG17. It was also the only year the Safety Wall was painted (for both Archery and Shooting). Although not a requirement, this was a nice addition by the Sport Venue Managers that greatly improved the overall look of their venues.

The Safety Wall can be used for both Precision Air Sports and Archery; the design is the same.
Each wall section consists of 4 pieces:
(1) 4’x8’ 23/32” or 3/4” plywood sheets
(1) 8’ 2x4
(1) 4’ 2x4
(1) 4’ 2x4 with opposing 45-degree cuts
The two 4’ pieces are made from a single 8’ 2x4.
For a 60-target range, the following wood materials are needed:
(60) 4’x8’ 23/32” or 3/4” plywood sheets
(122) 8’ 2x4… (Makes 61 Frames)
Two extra 8’ 2x4 boards are needed for the last frame as two panels share one frame. The following images will assist with understanding this design.
When space is limited, the wall may be assembled with the frame feet facing toward the athletes (last image).
Target Systems: CMP (Floor Stand)
Safety Wall: Pellet Curtain
Service Team Equipment Storage: TBD
The Tampa Convention Center showcased other sports to include:
Archery Indoor Rowing Powerlifting Sitting Volleyball (Prelims) Wheelchair Basketball (Prelims) Wheelchair Rugby (Prelims
