The Contractor shall be responsible for the delivery and successful testing of a representative sample(s) of ammunition produced under this contract to the NATO NARTC located at LCAAP for NATO Production Testing. This is required in order to determine if the U.S. ammunition designs, that are currently qualified to be used by NATO Forces, continue to meet the NATO standards for battlefield interchangeability, and merit the application of the NATO Symbol of Interchangeability required IAW the following NATO Standardization Agreements
(STANAG):

The Contractor shall support NATO Qualification testing required from all manufacturing sources to support the ammunition designs currently under consideration outlined above. PCO approval is required for any new qualified ammunition designs prior to marking the outer box (wirebound) with the NATO Symbol of Interchangeability (cloverleaf).
2.3. In order to maintain the NATO Symbol of Interchangeability (cloverleaf), a NATO Production Test (PT) sample is required from all Small Caliber Ammunition producers at least once every 12 months (or more often if requested by the Government) for each of the NATO qualified ammunition design. The Contractor shall support PTs for its own samples and samples submitted to the NARTC from other manufacturing sources.
2.4. The Contractor shall ensure that they and any of its own sub-contractors manufacturing complete cartridges also submit a NATO PT samples(s) to the NARTC in a timely manner. The annually submitted sample shall be from the same month of production as that of the previous sample for the length of the contract.
2.5. The ammunition sample submitted for PT shall be from a representative sample, from a normal production lot of not less than 100,000 cartridges of ball ammunition (50,000 of all other types) that has passed all national proof and inspection requirements. If the ammunition sample is from a start-up production, then the NATO PT sample shall be submitted from the first full production lot after it has been accepted by the Government.
2.6 . The ammunition quantity required and configuration to be delivered shall be IAW the applicable section of the Multi-Caliber Manual of Proof and Inspection for Qualification and Production Testing. The single rounds may be packed in clip/carton pack as applicable. The ammunition shall be packaged so as to preclude damage in normal handling and transportation. In addition to any other markings required by this contract, the packaging for each sample shall be marked “FOR NATO TESTING” and must also include: item nomenclature, lot number, manufacturer, and quantity per package.
2.7. A failure of the ammunition to meet the applicable requirements may result in invocation of warranty pursuant to FAR 52.246-17 “Warranty of Supplies of a Non- Complex Nature”. At a minimum, the failure will result in suspension of the use of the NATO Symbol of Interchangeability, the removal of the symbol from existing stocks or from production since the last successful PT, or the need for requalification. If the sample(s) fail to meet the requirements, i.e., if the submitted cartridges fail NATO PTs, the Contractor shall be responsible for removing the NATO Symbol of Interchangeability (cloverleaf) from each outer box at whatever site(s) the boxes are located, unless otherwise authorized by the PCO. In addition, the Contractor shall be responsible for submitting new samples at their expense.
