About this file
This is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for shipboard maintenance and repair work on the USS RAFAEL PERALTA (DDG-115). The instruction details inspection, repair, and preservation activities for the IRS Eductor Secondary Air Inlet Trunk, with work scheduled to commence on 7/27/2026 and conclude by 9/4/2026.
The work scope includes: (1) visual inspection of the trunk interior for deterioration, pitting, cracks, and damage; (2) power tool cleaning to bare metal for exposed surfaces up to 69 square feet using SSPC-SP 11 surface preparation specification; (3) ultrasonic thickness measurements at up to 10 locations with acceptance criteria per MIL-STD-2035; (4) structural repairs including base metal weld build-up for up to 30 square inches, removal and installation of up to 34 square feet of plate, removal and installation of up to 13 linear feet of stiffener, and vee-out and welding of up to 5 linear feet of cracked welds; (5) coating application per SSPC Painting Manual specifications on repaired surfaces not exceeding 10 square feet per area; and (6) local air hose testing of new welds with zero allowable leakage. The instruction notes that work affects a fire zone boundary and requires fabrication and staging of a non-flammable closure per COMNAVSEASYSCOM MSG R 261400Z JUL 12. Supporting services including crane rigging, utilities, safety inspection, gas-free inspection, and QA inspection will be provided under separate TGI No. 38K6112321S02. The material list is empty, indicating no government-furnished materials are required. No contract vehicle, pricing terms, or federal agency procurement details are specified in this internal ship maintenance instruction.
