About this file
This Task Group Instruction (TGI) details repair and preservation work for deck plating on the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19), specifically focusing on two areas: the Fifth Deck in 6-76-2-A (Frames between 81 and 82, Port) and the First Platform in 6-76-2-A. The work involves weld repair of mechanical damage, including drilling 1/2-inch holes, countersinking, conducting air hose tests, and performing preservation tasks on new and disturbed surfaces.
The project is scheduled for contractor work from January 12, 2026, to May 15, 2027, with the Naval Ship Repair Facility-Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC) providing support services including crane rigging, utility services, safety inspections, and on-site engineering support for weld repair. The work requires special attention to fire zone boundaries, necessitating the fabrication and staging of a non-flammable closure. The total work area comprises approximately one lot of deck plating on the Fifth Deck and 414 square feet on the First Platform, with potential lead hazards noted in the initial conditions.
