About this file

This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and preserving a waste oil tank on the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19), with work scheduled from July 21, 2026 to November 21, 2027. The specific tank (9-94-0-F) is located in the Engine Room, has a capacity of 14,474 gallons, and includes two 15-inch x 23-inch steel manhole cover plates. The task involves comprehensive maintenance including commercial blast cleaning, visual inspection for structural integrity, repair of up to one linear foot of deteriorated welds, base metal weld buildup of 60 square inches, replacement of 10 square feet of deteriorated plate, and installation of a non-flammable closure. Special requirements include a potential lead hazard, Level III cleaning for piping systems, and adherence to fire zone boundary regulations. The naval shipyard SRF-JRMC will provide supporting services such as crane rigging, utility services, and quality assurance inspections.
