About this file

This document contains a draft scope of work for electrical system upgrades aboard the USCGC POLAR STAR from fiscal years 2021 through 2023. The scope of work includes replacing voltage regulator enclosures, upgrading engine actuators, installing new controller enclosures, replacing switchboard devices, installing battery units and reverse acting governors. Electrical and mechanical personnel from the shipyard and Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division engineers will perform the work in engine control centers, auxiliary machinery spaces, diesel engine rooms and other areas over a three year period. The United States Coast Guard issued a request for information to solicit industry feedback on the draft solicitation for the POLAR STAR Service Life Extension Project, which will extend the cutter's service life by recapitalizing major systems similar to previous drydock maintenance availabilities.
