About this file

This document is a draft scope of work for the US Coast Guard's POLAR STAR Service Life Extension Project. The scope involves removing and replacing various electrical enclosures and panels aboard the vessel, installing new computer and input/output equipment, and modifying bridge consoles. Specific tasks include replacing enclosures in six areas of the ship and connecting new cabling; replacing subpanels in two locations; installing new input/output racks in the engine control center for vital alarms; replacing existing computers in the engine control center with new models; and removing existing input/output racks from bridge consoles and installing new racks mounted on plates. Foundation work and cable runs between areas of the pilothouse are also included. The Coast Guard seeks industry feedback on this draft scope through a request for information as part of planning the solicitation for the service life extension project aimed at extending the service life of the POLAR STAR and recapitalizing major systems.
