About this file
This is an Open Burning Permit issued by Plant City Fire Rescue, a department of the City of Plant City, Florida. The permit authorizes organizations to conduct open burning of natural vegetation in compliance with specific operational requirements. The permit is valid for 30 days from the date of issuance and requires the applicant to provide the company name, person in charge of the burn, phone number, and address on the permit form. Daily notification to the Division of Forestry (863-940-6701) is required prior to each burn operation, and daily contact with Plant City Fire Rescue administration (813-757-9131, or 813-707-2326 for weekend burns) must be maintained once approval is granted. Burning is only permitted between 9:00 a.m. and one hour before sunset, with complete extinguishment required by day's end.
The permit imposes strict operational parameters for all open burning activities. The burn pit must contain natural vegetation only, with burn piles limited to 30 feet in diameter and 10 feet in height, with no more than three piles allowed at any single site. The burn site must maintain a minimum setback of 1,000 feet from occupied buildings and active airport runways, 100 feet from wild lands or combustible structures, and a 50-foot firebreak around each pit. The operator must continuously monitor wind conditions and be prepared to extinguish the fire immediately if containment is jeopardized or nuisance conditions develop. Fire suppression equipment must be present and operational at all times during burning activities. The permit is issued by the City of Plant City Fire Rescue for commercial land clearing operations or may be authorized by the Department of Forestry for silviculture or agricultural burning.
