N40085-23-R-2850 Amendment 0002

A. The following RFI responses have been provided:

1. Question: Drawing PW101 notes that no joints permitted when routed domestic water piping under slab. There will be pre-insulated domestic hot and pre-insulated domestic hot water return piping routed under the floor slab to various parts of the building. Spec section 33 61 14 paragraph 2.2.1 Copper Tubing states to use type “L” or “M” copper tubing for hot domestic water piping, chilled water piping, chilled-hot water piping and hot water piping. This specification also states the various types of joint connections that are allowed. Will the joints listed in this specification be allowed for use under the slab for the domestic hot water and domestic hot water return piping? Will pre-insulated copper pipe be allowed with brazed joints under the slab?

Answer: To obtain a jointless pipe run under slab, contractor can use PEX-A for domestic water piping. Use piping as specified in 33 61 14 for hydronic piping.

2. Question: If pre-insulated type “L” or “M” copper pipe with brazed joints for the domestic hot water and domestic hot water return piping under the slab will not be allowed, what type of pipe will be allowed as to eliminate joints under the slab?

Answer: To obtain a jointless pipe run under slab, contractor can use PEX-A for domestic water piping.

3. Question: Will the underground chilled water and heating hot water pipe that will be located under the slab follow the same specifications pertaining to the “no pipe joints” as the underground domestic hot water piping below the slab?

Answer: Piping and joints must be as specified in 33 61 14 for hydronic piping.

4. Question: MH101 does not show a return air motorized damper for AH01. M-804 shows an RA damper. The equipment schedule says the AH has a return damper. Should an RA damper be shown on MH101?

Answer: The unit must be provided with a return and an outside air damper. Only one damper for each air stream is needed.

5. Question: Mechanical room on MH101 shows an “E” in a circle with light radiating next to the door, inside. This symbol does not appear in legends. What is it? A similar symbol is outside the door. What is that?

N40085-23-R-2850 Amendment 0002

Answer: The symbol is the push button for the emergency gas shutoff valve. Refer to PG101. The button shall be hardwired to shut of gas delivery to boilers, shutdown boilers and send a signal to the building DDC system to generate an alarm.

6. Question: MH101 and MH401 show one duct mounted motorized damper in series with each of the four louvers. The equipment schedule requires louvers to be provided with factory installed motorized dampers and actuators, however, those dampers and actuators do not appear on the floor plans. Please clarify if louvers actually require factory installed motorized dampers that will be redundant to field installed duct dampers.

Answer: All louvers except L04 require (1) motorized low leak aluminum damper with actuator and end proving switch. Air from louver L04 will be dampered at the unit

AH01.

B. In response to the above RFIs, Replace sheet PW401 (60039100) with the attached sheet PW401 (60039100r1) Replace sheet MH101 (60039105) with the attached sheet MH101 (60039105r1) Replace sheet M-802 (60039115) with the attached sheet M-802 (60039115r1)
