9. TESTING.
Test fuel filter assembly as follows. Record test results to Table 1a or similar. Operate fuel accessories test stand, part No. 164101-100 as specified in T.O. 33D2-3-106-1.
9.1 Preparation for Testing.
a. Remove cover (Figure 2, 4), filter element
(5) with packing (6), and spring (7).
b. Install fuel filter plug, part No. 291804-1, on filter housing (18) at element mount.
c. Install assembled cover (4) onto filter housing (18).
d. Cap restrictor (17).
e. Connect fuel filter inlet port to fuel discharge pressure port of fuel accessories test stand, part No. 164101- 100.
9.2 Purge Run.
a. Apply 12 psig of fuel pressure until fuel flows from filter discharge port to purge filter of air.
b. Reduce pressure to zero.
c. Reset differential pressure indicator.
9.3 Differential Pressure Indicator Test.
a. Slowly increase fuel pressure to filter inlet port and record indicator actuation pressure as required in Table 1a.
b. Reduce pressure to zero and reset differential pressure indicator (Figure 2, 15 or 15A). Repeat differential pressure indicator test twice.
c. If test fails replace filter indicator (15 or 15A) and retest.
9.4 Relief Valve Crack Pressure.
a. Slowly increase fuel pressure until differential pressure indicator (15 or 15A) actuates then further increase pressure until fuel beings to flow from filter outlet port.
b. Record as relief valve crack pressure.
c. Reduce pressure to zero.
d. If relief valve crack pressure is out of limits in Table 1a, change a maximum of two washers (10) to increase relief valve crack pressure. Repeat test after any change in washers.
9.5 Relief Valve Leakage.
a. Increase fuel pressure to pressure required in Table 1a for time specified.
b. Measure leakage from filter outlet port with a beaker and record.
c. If leakage exceeds requirements, inspect or replace packings (figure 2, 6, 8, 13, 14, or 16), poppet (12), spring (11), or washer (10). Repeat leakage test. If filter still leaks, reject fuel filter.
d. Reduce fuel pressure to zero.
9.6 Post Test Proceedures.
a. Remove fuel filter assembly from fuel accessories test stand, part No. 164101- 100.
b. Remove cover (Figure 2, 4 – continued) with packing (3) and fuel filter plug, part No. 291804-1. Remove cap from restrictor (17).

c. Install spring (7), filter element (5), and cover (4) with new packing (3).
d. Lockwire cover (4), plug (9), and differential pressure indicator (15 or 15A) to filter housing (18).
e. Preserve in accordance with standard procedures and T.O. 2J-1-13.
f. Package fuel filter assembly in accordance with Specification MIL-P-116.
