8. Testing: Unless otherwise stated, conduct all testing using calibration fluid per MIL-C-7024, Type II.
A. Test thermal relief assemblies (19) as follows:
(1) Lubricate O-rings (20) with a light coat of petrolatum per VV-P-236.
(2) Install relief assembly (19) hole-end first into test fixture part number 201415044 and secure in place with sub assembly 201415044-03.
(3) Connect calibration fluid supply to test fixture 201415044. Use a bleed port and provide low inlet pressure (less than 5 psig) to remove air from the line.
(4) Provide 35±2 psig inlet pressure to test fixture and verify less than 0.3 cc/min (6 drops/min) of leakage.
(5) Verify thermal relief opening pressure between 45 psig and 85 psig by increasing inlet pressure until seat leakage exceeds 2 cc/min (40 drops/min). Record cracking pressure on data sheet.
(6) Reduce inlet pressure to verify that the thermal relief reseats above 45 psig by observing less than 0.3 cc/min (6 drops/min) of leakage. Record reseating pressure on data sheet.
(7) Install thermal relief assembly (19) by placing the end with the hole into the body
(23). Secure with snap ring (18).
(8) Repeat steps 1-7 with second thermal relief assembly (19).
B. Test thermal relief assembly (21) as follows:
(1) Lubricate O-rings (22) with a light coat of petrolatum per VV-P-236.
(2) Install relief assembly (21) hole-end first into test fixture part number 201415045.
Rotate relief assembly clockwise until flush with the fixture (no exposed threads).
(3) Connect calibration fluid supply to test fixture 201415045. Use a bleed port and provide low inlet pressure (less than 5 psig) to remove air from the line.
(4) Provide 95±2 psig inlet pressure to test fixture and verify less than 0.3 cc/min (6 drops/min) of leakage.
(5) Verify thermal relief opening pressure between 105 psig and 135 psig by increasing inlet pressure until seat leakage exceeds 2 cc/min (40 drops/min).
Record cracking pressure on data sheet.
(6) Reduce inlet pressure to verify that the thermal relief reseats above 105 psig by observing less than 0.3 cc/min (6 drops/min) of leakage. Record reseating pressure on data sheet.
(7) Install thermal relief assembly (21) into the body (23).
C. Test AV16B1519D motor operated gate valve as follows:
WARNING: Keep hands clear of port openings when operating valve.
(1) Manually operate the valve from fully open to fully closed and back to fully open.
Valve shall actuate smoothly without sticking or binding.
(2) Install valve into test adapter kit assembly part number 201415043 using O-rings part number MS28775-223 or M83248/1-223. Lubricate O-rings with a light coat of petrolatum per VV-P-236. Incrementally tighten adapter nuts to 165 ±10 inch-pounds.
(3) Connect calibration fluid supply to one side of test fixture assembly 201415043 and install a cap on the other side after providing low inlet pressure (less than 5 psig) to remove air from the valve.
(4) Pressurize valve body cavity to 240±10 psig for one minute. No external leakage allowed. Reduce pressure to 0 psig. Record findings on data sheet.
(5) Use mating connector for GS02-14S-5P. Refer to Figure 8-1 for wiring diagram.
Apply 26±1 VDC to pin B to close valve until limit switch activation is detected on pin D. Apply 26±1 VDC to pin A to open valve until limit switch activation is detected on pin C. Repeat cycle for a minimum of 25 operations. Record number of actuations on data sheet. Interrupt current to valve at any partially closed position. When current is restored, valve must continue to the closed position.
Figure 8-1 Wiring Diagram
(6) Apply 26±1 VDC to pin B to close valve until limit switch activation is detected on pin D. Apply 130±10 psig to one side of test adapter assembly 201415043 with the other side connected to an ambient pressure drain. Apply 26±1 VDC to pin A to open valve until limit switch activation is detected on pin C. Verify that peak current does not exceed 5.0 amperes, and the max current (running) does not exceed 2.0 amperes. Record voltage and current readings on data sheet. Reduce inlet pressure to 0 psig. Reverse supply pressure and ambient drain ports and repeat test. Operating time: opening or closing: less than one sec.
(7) Apply 18 VDC maximum to pin B to close valve until limit switch activation is detected on pin D. Apply 85±10 psig to one side of test adapter assembly
201415043 with the other side connected to an ambient pressure drain. Apply 18
VDC maximum to pin A to open valve until limit switch activation is detected on pin C. Record actuation voltage on data sheet. Reduce inlet pressure to 0 psig.
Reverse pressure and ambient ports and repeat test.
(8) Remove test adapter assembly and manually operate the valve from fully open to fully closed and back to fully open. Valve shall actuate smoothly without sticking or binding.
