1. SCOPE.
This Technical Order (TO) provides illustrated, step-by-step, and Organizational level maintenance procedures for A-10C aircraft.
2. USE.
This manual has been developed for use by experienced and less experienced maintenance technicians. Items that are placarded are in upercase and reflect exactly what the maintenance technicians will see as they perform the function.
3. ARRANGEMENT.
Instructions in this manual are arranged in a function format with procedural steps on an even numbered page, supported by an illustration on an odd numbered page. A function is made up of tasks containing a series of steps and illustrations which support maintenance of a system or component. Typical tasks are removal, installation, adjustment, rigging, operational checkout, etc. All steps within each task must be accomplished to complete the function. Index numbers on an illustration identify components requiring action. These index numbers are keyed to the procedural steps. All steps listed under follow on maintenance must be acomplished when each task has been completed.
4. INPUT CONDITIONS.
The Input Conditions data at the start of each function contains information required to prepare the aircraft for maintenance and lists the recommended number of technicians to complete the function. Consumables, special tools and test equipment, and additional data required are also listed.
5. COCKPIT CONFIGURATION LAYOUT.
Cockpit configurations as depicted within this book are TYPICAL layouts only. For specific cockpit configuration layout based on aircraft modifications, refer to the following figures:

6. LIST OF TIME COMPLIANCE TECHNICAL ORDERS.
The list of Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) includes all TCTOs affecting technical content of this TO. Only current TCTOs are listed.

Chapter 1
DEFOG CANOPY
1-1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
INPUT CONDITIONS
Applicability: All
WARNING
Required Conditions:
• Ensure aircraft is safe for maintenance. (TO 1A-10C-2-1-1or TO 1A-10C-2-4JG-1).
• All personnel shall be thoroughly familiar with safety precautions outlined in TO 00-25-172 and AFOSHSTD 91-100.
NOTE
If trouble symptoms are encountered during this procedure, refer to TO 1A-10C-2-31TS-1.

1-1-1 Procedures
1. On Environmental Control Panel (1), set Windshield Defog/Deice switch (2) to ON.
2. Set Canopy Defog dial (3) to MAX.
NOTE
The windshield may take up to 5 minutes to clear.
3. Once the windshield is clear, set Canopy Defog dial (3) to OFF.
4. Set Windshield Defog/Deice switch (2) to OFF.
