SF330 Request for A&E Services, Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota

Questions and Answers 26 September 2022

8. With regard to the requirement for an industrial/process engineer, can you tell me what type of projects would require this discipline? We would appreciate more detail about why this type of engineer would be required for projects at EAFB. Please advise.

Answer: An example of something that we maybe would have had an industrial/process engineer look at would be the following scenario:

We have a dock where we paint and sand blast parts from a plane. We are looking at remodeling a portion of the dock for sand blasting and painting of parts. The dust from sand blasting the parts is very harmful to humans. The industrial/process engineer might be involved in how things are done and what can be done to minimize contamination of other parts of the dock. Do you build a separate area in the dock for the process. Where do people change in and out of PPE. How and where is the PPE handled and stored. Is there a way to improve the process and create less contamination or cross‐contamination into other areas of the process.

As a reminder, this is an example only. At this time the Government cannot predict every possible scenario or future requirement at this time.
