About this file
This document is a Scope of Work for the manufacturing of a 704 MHz Conditioning Box by a vendor, issued by Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) for the U.S. Department of Energy. The scope details a complex manufacturing process where BNL will provide most materials, including annealed copper sample material, shipping crates, brazing alloy, welded sub-assemblies, and technical assistance. The vendor is required to machine samples to a 32 rms finish, use only water-soluble lubricants without sulfates, and perform specific machining tasks on various components like lids, bases, nipples, and water plugs.
The detailed work involves multiple stages of machining, dry-brazing, brazing ports, and final brazing assembly. BNL will provide significant technical support, including assisting with the "tuning" process at the vendor's facility and specifying precise machining tolerances (0.001" to 0.003" braze gaps). The document includes extensive tables listing specific drawing numbers, component titles, and detailed notes for each manufacturing step. The BNL Technical Representative for this project is Jesse Fite, and the document is dated September 19, 2025, indicating a future procurement process for this specialized scientific equipment.
