About this file

This document is Appendix A containing an Infection Control Risk Assessment (IRCA) that outlines required infection control precautions for Class II work during the removal and installation of flooring. The appendix specifies the tasks and responsible parties for maintaining infection control standards before, during, and after flooring work in a federal facility.

During removal and installation of flooring, the contractor is responsible for five primary tasks: providing active means to prevent airborne dust, controlling dust from cutting and scraping operations, sealing unused doors with tape, blocking off and sealing air vents, and placing dust mats at work area entrances and exits. The government is responsible for removing and isolating the HVAC system in affected areas. Upon completion of work, the contractor must wipe surfaces with disinfectant, contain construction waste in tightly covered containers, wet mop and/or vacuum using HEPA-filtered equipment before vacating the work area, and remove door and vent seals. The government is responsible for removing the HVAC system isolation. This appendix serves as a template or requirement specification document rather than a complete solicitation or contract vehicle.
