About this file
This document provides details for a federal contract opportunity to develop the Geostationary Extended Observations Sounder instrument. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Goddard Space Flight Center plans to issue a Request for Proposal for implementation of the Geostationary Extended Observations Sounder, a new hyperspectral infrared instrument intended to provide sounding observations of the western hemisphere. The contract scope includes tasks to design, develop, fabricate, integrate, calibrate, test, verify, evaluate, and support the instrument as well as Ground Support Equipment and Mission Operations. This will be a cost-plus-award-fee contract awarded in late August 2023 for one flight model instrument, with options for an additional flight model and a spare. The period of performance is anticipated to include 15 years of on-orbit operations and storage for each flight model. A draft RFP is planned for release in December 2022 with the final RFP anticipated in January to February 2023.
