About this file
This document provides details of a presolicitation notice for a federal-aid highway project. The project will reconstruct and improve approximately 4.17 miles of US Route 50 between Montrose and Gunnison, Colorado to provide a consistent 12-foot travel way with 4 to 8-foot shoulders and add 1.5 miles of climbing lanes. Major work includes large scale rock excavation and embankment, roadway realignment and widening, MSE retaining walls, drainage culverts, guardrails, aggregate base, asphalt paving, minor bridge and railing work, pavement markings, traffic control restrictions and signage. Significant quantities of work include over 180,000 cubic yards of roadway excavation, 38,500 cubic yards of waste, 580 cubic yards of grouted riprap for stream armoring, 60,000 square feet of MSE walls, 2,500 linear feet of rock bolts, 70,000 tons of aggregate base and asphalt paving. The federal sponsor is the US Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration. Plans and specifications for the project are not yet available as this is a presolicitation notice only.
