o (14) Davit Bases.
o (2) Davit Arms
TEST PROCEDURE
Physical test
A 2500-pound force was exerted on each safety anchor June 26, 2018. This pull was made at a position that simulated the forces that would likely be exerted on the safety anchors in normal operation.
Inspection of Anchors
This year the anchors were visually inspected for signs of potential defects. Due to the corrosive nature of our local environment McCrory Engineering, Inc. requires a Physical load test be performed every fifth year with annual visual inspection between each load teat interval.
Inspection of Parapet
The parapet wall is 7' high which is above the legal height does not require to be tied off personnel while working on the roof. Personnel working near some of the Davit Bases needs to wear a Harness because there is no parapet.
Basis for Test
The tests were conducted to conform with the procedures in the Federal Register Rules and Regulations designated “Part II, the Department of Labor, OSHA, 29 CFR Part 1910 – Amended, Section 1910.66, (Powered Platforms for Building Maintenance)”, 29 CFR Part 1926 – Subpart L (“Scaffolds”) and ANSI International Window Cleaning Association I-14.1-2001.
TEST RESULTS
All Most of the Tiebacks were found free of Physical Defect, deflection and Corrosion.
All Davit Arms and Bases were found free of physical defect and corrosion.
NOTE: Most of the wall mounted Tiebacks were found with Minor corrosion.
McCrory Engineering recommends to services these tiebacks. Use a Metal Brush and clean the surface and apply some Anticorrosion or Galvanized coating.
