About this file
This document is a specification section for the PIP-II F37 Pump Room project detailing requirements for foundations, bases, and supports for mechanical equipment.
The contractor must furnish and install foundations, bases, and supports for mechanical equipment not specifically provided by other subcontractors. All concrete foundations, bases, and supports shall be reinforced concrete, while steel bases and supports must receive a prime coat of zinc chromate or red metal primer, followed by a final gray enamel coat upon completion. Concrete bases (housekeeping pads) shall be nominally 4 inches thick and extend 3 inches on all sides of equipment, or 6 inches larger than the factory base. When a base is located less than 12 inches from a wall, the base must extend to the wall to prevent dirt accumulation. The contractor shall provide all concrete materials and workmanship conforming to Portland Cement Association standards, reinforced with 6"x6", W1.4-W1.4 welded wire fabric, with concrete capable of withstanding 3,000 pounds compression per square inch at 28 days. Centrifugal pumps are identified as equipment requiring bases under this specification.
