Carlisle’s Factory-Applied Tape Seam Technology
With Carlisle’s patented Factory-Applied Tape (FAT) Seam technology, most of the labor to create seams between membrane panels is completed in a quality-controlled, state-of-the-art environment. This process results in a reliable seam with greater peel and sheer strengths with no entrapped air bubbles. Consistent placement of the FAT also maximizes the splice area and results in a high-quality seam. Carlisle FAT is available on Sure-White membranes up to 20' (6 m) in width, providing the fastest way to complete a seam in today’s roofing market. Shelf life for FAT is 1 year.
Installation
Sure-White membrane is primarily utilized in Design A, Fully Adhered Roofing Systems.
Sure-White Design A: Fully Adhered Roofing System: insulation is mechanically attached or adhered to the roof deck. The substrate and membrane are coated with Carlisle Bonding Adhesive. The membrane is then rolled into place and broomed down. To complete seams between two adjoining membrane panels, apply primer to the splice area in conjunction with Carlisle’s FAT. As an alternative, Carlisle’s hand-applied SecurTAPE may be used.
For cold weather splicing below 40°F (5°C), these steps must be followed:
1. Heat the primed area of the bottom membrane with a hot-air gun as the top sheet with FAT is applied and pressed into place.
2. Prior to rolling the splice area with a 2"-wide steel hand roller, apply heat to the top side of the membrane with a hot-air gun. The heated surface should be hot to the touch. Be careful not to burn or blister the membrane.
Review Carlisle specifications and details for complete installation information.

Precautions
» Sunglasses that filter our ultraviolet light are strongly recommended as the white surface intensifies sunlight through reflection.
» White surfaces reflect heat and may become slippery due to frost and ice build-up. Exercise extreme caution during cold conditions to prevent falls.
» Use caution when working close to a roof edge when surrounding area is snow covered as roof edge may not be clearly visible.
» Use proper stacking procedures for sufficient stability of materials.
» Exercise caution when walking on wet membrane. Membranes are slippery when wet.
» Membranes with FAT should not be exposed to prolonged jobsite storage temperatures in excess of 90°F (32°C); otherwise, the shelf life of the FAT may be affected.
» When Sure-White with FAT is used, shade the tape end of the rolls until ready to use in warm, sunny weather.
» Shelf life for FAT is 1-year.

Pressure-Sensitive Elastoform Flashing®
Overview
Carlisle’s Sure-White EPDM Pressure-Sensitive (PS) Elastoform Flashing is a nominal 60-mil-thick (1.5 mm)-thick, uncured EPDM membrane, laminated to a nominal 30-mil-thick (0.75 mm), fully cured PS adhesive.
This product is available in 6" x 100', 9" x 50', 12" x 50' rolls and is easily malleable and highly adaptable to irregular shapes and surfaces.
PS Elastoform Flashing is self curing and can be used to fl ash pipes and scuppers, as well as other rooftop structures and penetrations. The clear poly release liner on the 12"-wide product is pre-slit down the center, allowing the applicator to partially remove the liner for ease of installation.
Features and Benefi ts
» Available in 6" x 100', 9" x 50' and 12" x 50' rolls
» Adaptable to irregular shapes and surfaces
» Self-curing membrane
» Labor and cost savings in fi eld applications
» Approved for use on EPDM and TPO membranes
Installation
1. The entire surface where the PS Elastoform Flashing will be applied must be clean. The adhesive on the back of the PS Elastoform Flashing will not adhere to dusted or dirty surfaces. Any residual contamination will be detrimental to the bond strength of the adhesive.
2. Remove all foreign material.
a. Remove excess mica dust by brooming or wiping with a clean, dry rag or Carlisle HP Splice Wipe.
b. The use of Weathered Membrane Cleaner may be necessary.
This process is essential on membrane that has been exposed for a number of weeks.
Note: Permeation-resistant gloves (that meet ANSI/ISEA 105- 2005) are required for hand protection when cleaners or primers are being used.
c. Allow the membrane to dry thoroughly before proceeding.
3. Apply HP-250,TPO Primer, or Low-VOC Primer per instructions on respective product data sheets. Membrane type determines which primer to use. HP-250 Primer is used with EPDM membranes. TPO Primer is used with TPO membranes. Low-VOC Primer can be used with either TPO or EPDM membranes. Review Carlisle specifi cations and details for complete installation information.
Note: The use of excessive amounts of primer will not signifi cantly enhance the adhesion of the PS Elastoform Flashing to the EPDM membrane. Use only the amount necessary to obtain 100% coverage of the area where the PS Elastoform Flashing will be applied.
4. Allow the primer to fl ash-off until it does not transfer to a dry fi nger touch yet remains tacky. Install the pressure-sensitive product immediately after the primer has fl ashed-off to promote adhesion and avoid contamination.
5. Position the fl ashing over the area to be covered and press down the exposed tape adhesive using fi rm, even hand pressure across the entire area. Install the elongated diamond pattern parallel to the deck when fl ashing corners or vertical pipe wraps.
6. Immediately roll the PS Elastoform Flashing with a 2"-wide (50 mm) roller, using positive pressure. Roll across the fl ashing edge, not parallel to it. Install the elongated diamond pattern parallel to the deck when fl ashing corners or vertical pipe wraps.
7. To achieve proper adhesion of the PS Elastoform Flashing when jobsite temperatures fall below 40°F (4°C), heat the primed area of the membrane with a hot-air gun as the fl ashing is applied and pressed into place.
8. Apply Lap Sealant (EPDM) or Universal Single-Ply Sealant (TPO) to the outside edge of the fl ashing.
9. PS Elastoform Flashing is used to fl ash many different roofi ng system structures and penetrations. The specifi c method of applying the fl ashing for each individual situation is different. The appropriate Carlisle specifi cation and/or detail must be consulted prior to application.

Precautions
» Avoid prolonged contact with skin. In case of contact with skin, thoroughly wash affected area with soap and water.
» Prolonged jobsite storage temperatures in excess of 90°F (32°C) will shorten product shelf life.
» In warm, sunny weather, keep PS Elastoform Flashing rolls in their box and in a shaded area until ready to use.
» Storage and use of PS Elastoform Flashing at temperatures below 40°F (4°C) will result in a loss of adhesive tack and, in extreme cases, will result in no bond to the substrate. Overnight storage must be available to keep the temperature of the PS Elastoform Flashing at a minimum of 60°F (15°C). Hot boxes for jobsite storage must be provided to maintain a minimum product temperature of 40°F (4°C).
» PS Elastoform Flashing must be stored in a dry area. It is recommended to store the fl ashing below 80°F (27°C) to ensure maximum formability and shelf life.
» Due to solvent fl ash-off, condensation may form on applied primer when the ambient temperature is near the dew point. If condensation develops, the application of primer and PS Elastoform Flashing must be discontinued as proper adhesion will not be achieved. Allow the surface to dry and apply primer to the previously coated surface and apply PS Elastoform Flashing when conditions allow.
» Do not allow waste products (petroleum, grease, oil, solvents, vegetable or mineral oils, animal fats, etc.) or direct steam venting to come in contact with the PS Elastoform Flashing.
» A heat gun is required when forming PS Elastoform Flashing in colder temperatures as outlined in the specifi cation.

Let Carlisle simplify your next Sure-White EPDM installation with their Pressure-Sensitive Curb Flashing. The most effi cient means to fl ash a curb as membrane comes pre-cut 20" wide with 6" SecurTAPE™ already applied. Production time on projects with numerous curbs or wall fl ashings can be substantially reduced with this labor saving accessory.
Features and Benefi ts
• Available in 20" x 50' rolls of cured 60-mil EPDM fl ashing
• Pre-cut 20" wide with 6" SecurTAPE already applied
• Provides up to 70% labor savings for fl ashing curbs and walls
• Cleaner appearance and stronger seams
Installation*
1. Attach deck membrane at the curb according to specifi c Carlisle system details.
2. Cut a piece of PS Curb Flashing equal in length to the perimeter of the curb plus 3" minimum (i.e. a 2' x 2' curb would require a 8'– 3" length of PS Curb Flashing).
3. For curbs where the deck membrane is fastened on the vertical, cut the width of the PS Curb Flashing to match the height of the curb plus 6" for the splice and 2" to go over the top of the curb. (Width = curb height + 8".) For curbs where the deck membrane is fastened on the horizontal, cut the width of the PS Curb Flashing to allow a minimum of 3" of splice beyond the 2" fastening plates and 2" to go over top of the curb. (Width = curb height + 8".)
4. Place the PS Curb Flashing on a fl at surface with the tape side up and the release liner intact.
5. Apply Carlisle Bonding Adhesive to the curb and to the PS Curb Flashing.
6. While the bonding adhesive is drying, apply EPDM Primer to the splice area on the deck membrane.
7. After the bonding adhesive and primer have dried properly, bond the PS Curb Flashing to the curb. Wrap the entire curb, leaving the area containing the tape adhesive folded upwards with release liner still in place. Care should be taken not to stretch the PS Curb Flashing.
8. To complete the splice between the PS Curb Flashing and the deck membrane, cut the PS Curb Flashing at each corner of the curb, allowing the PS Curb Flashing to fall in place. Round all cut corners. Press the PS Curb Flashing into the angle change as tightly as possible.
9. With the tape adhesive laying fl at on the primed surface, remove the release liner by pulling it out from beneath the PS Curb Flashing while simultaneously pressing the tape onto the primed surface using fi rm even hand pressure across the splice towards the splice edge. Immediately roll the splice with a 2"-wide (50 mm) roller, using positive pressure.
10. Broom the mated PS Curb Flashing over the curb to ensure proper mating of the bonding adhesive.
11. Make the vertical splice in the PS Curb Flashing as per Carlisle U-2A details.
12. Flash the corners of the curb as per Carlisle U-15 details.

Precautions
1. Avoid prolonged contact with skin. In case,of contact with skin, thoroughly wash affected area with soap and water.
2. Carlisle Bonding Adhesive and EPDM Primer must be used when installing PS Curb Flashing.
3. PS Curb Flashing must be stored in a dry area. In warm, sunny weather, keep PS Curb Flashing in the box or in a shaded area until ready to use.
4. Due to solvent fl ash-off, condensation may form on freshly applied Primer when the ambient temperature is near the dew point. If condensation develops, the application of Primer and installation of PS Curb Flashing must be discontinued, as proper adhesion will not be achieved. Allow the primed surface to dry and apply a thin freshener coat of Primer to the previously coated surface when conditions allow.
5. Jobsite storage temperatures in excess of 90°F (32°C) may affect product shelf life. Prolonged jobsite exposure to temperatures below 40°F (4°C) will cause the adhesive to lose tack and in extreme cases not bond to the EPDM membrane. If this situation is encountered, move PS Curb Flashing to a warm area and allow it to return to a minimum of 60°F (15°C).
6. In order to achieve proper adhesion to the deck membrane when installing PS Curb Flashing at temperatures below 40°F (5°C), heat the primed area of the deck membrane with a hot-air gun as the tape adhesive is applied and pressed into place.
7. Do not allow waste products (petroleum, grease, oil, solvents, vegetable or mineral oil, animal fats, etc.) or direct steam venting to come in contact with the PS Curb Flashing.
