About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for RFQ 36C25926Q0408 addressing inquiries related to fire system inspection and repair services at the VA Western Colorado Healthcare System. The document clarifies that this is a new one-year requirement with no incumbent contractor, and the primary objective is to correct previously identified fire system deficiencies and document repairs for Joint Commission audit purposes rather than perform routine annual testing. Current service providers include Vulcan Fire for monitoring services and Citrine, LLC for backflow preventor services.

Key technical details addressed in the Q&A include: the presence of antifreeze and glycol loops in Buildings 6 and 36; the absence of sprinkler systems in the parking garage (Building 44), though alarm systems are present; the status of Building 34's network deficiency currently in progress; and five-year internal piping inspection requirements that include flushing connection removal, sprinkler head removal at branch line ends, and photographic documentation. The document specifies OS&Y valve sizes (8-inch, 3-inch, 2.5-inch, and 6-inch) available on-site, while noting that the contractor bears responsibility for verifying sizes of inspectors' test valves and flow switches in Building 22 prior to commencing work. The contracting officer indicated that copies of referenced monitoring reports would be published in a separate solicitation amendment.
