About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) related to a federal contract opportunity for the installation of mental health safety improvements at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. The RFI covers various aspects of the project, including removing and replacing wall cladding in patient toilets, the basis of design for new shower curtain tracks and flexible wall protection panels, details on seclusion/restraint rooms, and whether casework and countertop replacement are included in the scope of work. The government's responses provide clarification on these items and refer the contractor to the relevant drawings, specifications, and previous RFI responses. The overall contract opportunity is for a project to update room finishes and install new ligature-resistant plumbing fixtures in the 5th Floor Inpatient Mental Health Unit, in order to bring the unit into compliance with the Mental Health Environment of Care Checklist.

2. Refer to AF101 finishes plan for thicknesses according to renovation drawing. The contractor shall remove and install like kind in terms of thickness, size, quality, etc. AS403 provides some elevation information. It should be expected that wall cladding will need to be cut for installation around boxes. Boxes, fixtures, equipment to be watertight upon reinstallation.

3. Windowsills are to remain. SS wall cladding is to be installed up to existing windowsill if sill is below 4’ AFF.

4. Refer to specification 10 21 23.
