RFI NO.: 2 DATE:

SPEC/DWG. REFERENCE(s):

REPLY NEEDED BY:

INFORMATION NEEDED:

1. Ref amendment 3 RFI response- Are the temporary infection control barriers required to be 1hr rated as most modular wall systems do not meet a 1hr rating requirement? Are anterooms required at each patient room prior to beginning work in each room or can we install a barrier wall at the beginning of each of the 2 corridors and complete all work within each corridor and adjacent patient rooms simultaneously? If anterooms are required at each patient room prior to starting work, what type of infection control barrier will be required for corridor work? Will the corridors be closed for flooring and wall finish work? Where are temporary infection control barriers required?

2. Ref amendment 2 RFI 5 response #20 - to confirm, the only doors being replaced on this project is the two new doors that will swing into vestibule C-5019 and one new ligature resistant door at patient toilet C-5019A, correct?

3. Ref amendment 2 RFI 4 Reflected Ceiling Plan- Is all ACT being replaced to the outer most door pair in vestibule C5-9? Is there a specific tile required for the areas?

4. Ref ICRA Requirements- Can hepa filtered air exhaust within the space of work? If so is there any requirement for particulate monitoring and if so will the VA monitor particulates? If we can’t exhaust into space where should air be exhausted?

5. Ref statement of work- Who is responsible to remove & replace beds and furniture to accommodate new finishes? If the contractor, how are the beds anchored to floor?

6. Ref statement of work- Will all mirrors, soap dispensers and other wall mount items require removal and replacement for associated painting work?

7. Ref Statement of Work/ Corridors- The preferred vendor for flexible wall protection is Inpro Corporation.

Based on Inpro Flexible wall protection technical spec, the flexible wall protection cannot be installed over impact resistant drywall. Is the existing drywall in corridors a suitable substrate to install flexible wall protection? Or will the corridor drywall need to be replaced?

8. During the site visit it appeared patient toilet room C5013A has sealed concrete in the toilet/shower area and epoxy floor in the patient room area. Does the shower area currently have sealed concrete or is it actually epoxy flooring which would need to be shotblasted in preparation of new resinous epoxy?

RFI’s will be answered by amendment(s) issued to SAM.gov.

1. Refer to NFPA 241 – 8.6.2 Temporary Separation Walls. Walls shall have at least a 1-hour fire resistance rating; however, they are permitted to be nonrated when an approved automatic sprinkler system is installed and operational. Setting up a barrier wall and working on an entire corridor at once is highly unlikely for this project while working on individual rooms, but may be required for corridor floor replacement, possibly over a weekend. The initial plan was to build a barrier to work on two rooms at one time. An anteroom may not be possible due to space limitations in the corridor. Infection prevention will determine final infection control requirements.

2. The only new door required is the ligature resistant door at patient toilet C-5019A. If the existing doors cannot be reused to swing into vestibule C-5019, then two new doors will be required. The contractor should plan to install new doors and provide a credit to the VA if the old doors can be reused.

3. The ACT is being replaced up to the first door pair in C5-9A Corridor, not in C5-9 Vestibule. The VA facility standard selection is USG Radar 2410 square edge color white.

4. Updated VA ICRA standards mandate outdoor exhaust; however, this can’t be achieved on this project. The contractor shall use HEPA filtration into the corridors. The VA will monitor particulates.

5. The contractor will be responsible for moving beds and furniture. It is unknown how the bed is anchored to the floor. The COR will attempt to get this information before the bid opening.

6. Yes

7. According to sheet AS501 the installed 5/8” GWB is abuse resistant not impact resistant. After reviewing

Inpro’s installation instructions the COR can’t find any mention of impact resistant GWB as a non-suitable substrate. The corridor drywall is not intended for replacement.

8. Sheet AF101R details the existing conditions according to the most recent renovation, indicating patient toilets with epoxy resinous floor and base. The contractor is responsible for verifying site conditions.
