36C24919R0012 P0009 Amendment 9

1.) Drawing CU101 -What size and material are the existing Water and Fire lines we are to tap for connections? According to sheet IN611 the Patient Lift System equipment label A1200 is to be Owner furnished and Contractor installed. In our experience it is more cost effective, more efficient and more manageable if the patient lift is furnished and installed all by either the Owner or all by the Contractor. Otherwise, please provide us with your supplier so we can contact them for an installation price.

Answer: The domestic water and fire lines will tie into 8” ductile iron pipes. All patient lifts shall be owner purchased and owner installed.

2.) Drawings and Notes call for the 300 pair telephone cable to be CAT 5, but Specification Section 27 15 00; 2.3; B; 1 (page 27 15 00 – 9) states the cable is to be CAT 3. Can you please clarify the type of cable required to be installed?

Answer: Provide 300 Pair CAT 3

3.) The Diagram show a detail with 300 pair telephone cable, 3-12 strand fiber & 2-14/2 shielded cable in a 4” conduit. The Sheet Key Note No. 10, call for a 50 pair telephone cable, 1-12 strand fiber & 2-14/2 shielded cable in a 4” conduit. As well, on Sheet TS102, the details on the sheet do not match note 8. Can you please clarify size and types of cables required to be installed?

Answer: Dwg TS102, provide cabling as shown. Dwg T-601: Change note 10a to read:

Provide 2-12 Strand outdoor /indoor tight buffered armored interlocked single mode fiber(Data-OS2) in lieu of 1-12 strand, Change Note 10b to read: provide 300 PR 22 AWG Cat3 Telephone cable with Service entrance protection at each end in lieu of 50 PR 22 AWG. Add note 11 and 16 from HH10 to Building 201, OIT room 127.

4.) Are any of the cables, referenced in this note to be removed, in use currently? If so please specify which and if an outage is required.

Answer: Coordinate with the COR, but per the VA, none of these cables are in use.

5.) Is the controls contractor responsible for providing the dedicated fiber infrastructure required to connect to the existing “dedicated BAS network”, including trenching, conduit, fiber cable, landscaping repair, etc? The Fiber network that connects all of the buildings on campus is not tied into the VA infrastructure. In order to connect the BAS, a pair of fiber optic cables must be run from the new CCF to another builing on campus

Answer: A.) Provide One (1) 12-strand indoor/outdoor fiber opc cable from room 013- 17-LD, ground floor Building 17, to Community Living Center (CLC) Building 201 room 135 (Mechanical Room) . Cable shall be 62.5 micron multimode fiber optic cable. Cable shall terminate in a Contractor provided 12-strand fiber optic patch panel at each end.

Cable termination ends shall be ST type. Cable shall be continuous between patch panels.

Cable shall enter CLC Building 201 in room 129 (OIT Room) and continue to Room 135 (Mechanical Room). Inside Building 17 and CLC Building 201, cable shall be protected by

36C24919R0012 P0009 Amendment 9 protective corrugated duct (e.g. Innerduct or equal) and/or conduit. Location of patch panels shall be as selected by COR based on layout of existing room (013-17-LD) and locations of new equipment (Building 201, Room 135).( see TS101, TS102 and T601 for more info)

B.) Work in Building 17: provide 12-strand indoor/outdoor 62.5 micron mulmode fiber opc cable from the new BAS Network patch panel in IT room 13 to BAS panel in attic of Building 17. Fiber optic cable shall be protected by protective corrugated duct (e.g.

Innerduct or equal) and/or conduit. Two pairs of fiber optic cable shall terminate in BAS panel in attic of Building 17 in two (2) fiber to network media converters. One of these pairs shall match pair terminated in BAS panel in CLC Building 201, Room 135 (Mechanical); Other pair shall match pair terminated in BAS panel in CLC Building 202, Room 134 (Mechanical). Basis of design of media converter is Allied Telesyn Model AT-MC101XL. Basis of design or approved equal shall be provided. Ethernet cables shall be provided from media converters to existing BAS Ethernet Switch in BAS panel in attic of Building 17. All programming to add CLC BAS functions to existing BAS Network shall be included in scope of work.( see TS101, TS102 and T601 for more Info).

C.) Work in CLC Buildings 201 and 202:

1. Provide one single pair fiber opc patch cable from the new 12-strand fiber opc patch panel in CLC Building 201, Room 135 (Mechanical) to new BAS panel installed in CLC Building 201 for BAS system. Patch cable shall terminate in media converter. BAS panel shall include Ethernet Switch supporting media converter connection as well as BAS equipment within CLC Building 201.

2. Provide one single pair indoor/outdoor fiber opc cable from the new 12-strand fiber opc patch panel in CLC Building 201, Room 135 (Mechanical) to CLC Building 202, Room 134 (Mechanical). Path shall be from Building 201, Room 135 to Building 201, Room 129 OIT then outside and on to Building 202, Room 127 OIT, and ending in Building 202, Room 134 (Mechanical). Cable shall terminate in new BAS panel installed in CLC Building 202 for BAS system. Cable shall terminate in media converter. BAS panel shall include Ethernet Switch supporting media converter connection as well as BAS equipment within CLC Building 202. (see TS101, TS102 and T601 for more info)
