96. Who supplies and installs the composite fiberglass columns and wood trim around? If contractor, please provide specs and details.

VA Response: Contractor to supply and install composite fiberglass columns and wood trim around.

Columns have been located on AE101A, shown on interior elevation E1/AE403 and detailed on B1/AE503.

97. The following details on sheet AE502 have no caller: B4, D1, D5, D6. Where are these used?

VA Response: B4 is Kitchen casework, D1 is recessed soap holder called out on A-001 TYP SHOWER Mounting Heights. D5 is the base detail for E1/AE401. D6 is the reveal detail for E1/AE401.

98. Section 09 06 00, 12 34 00, and 12 36 00 are 95% CD, can you provide 100% CDs? (Other spec sections are also shown as 95%)

VA Response: Bidder is correct. The following specs are all labeled as 95% Construction Documents. AE will provide Issued For Construction specs. The specs will not change the language of the spec, but the headers will be updated and revision date of 11-15-2023.

99. The Fayetteville VAMC currently has an Ascom Telligence T5 nurse call system deployed. The Ascom Telligence T5 system is no longer produced and parts are no longer available for it. The use of components from the new system, Ascom Telligence T6, would require all the current Gateway I to be replaced and upgraded to Gateway II. This would also require a tremendous amount of reprogramming of the current

This does not take in account potential compatibility issues that arise from older endpoints and firmware that are not compatible with the Ascom Telligence T6 Gateway II. The cost of this is on par with upgrading the entire nurse call system.

The government responded to the RFIs that an OR EQUAL system is allowed (RFI 4,8, 16) – this conflicts with being required to provide compatible products to the existing Ascom system.

The nurse call system is a stand-alone system for the building (RFI 6). This conflicts with expanding on the existing system.

The government responds to several RFIs (23, 24, 27, 28, 33, 35, 38) with “The contractor is not purchasing a new nurse call system. The contractor requirement is to provide compatible products to the existing ASCOM nurse call system.” This conflicts with being able to provide OR EQUAL products due to the availability of existing Ascom Telligence T5 product.

RFI 9 – The existing Ascom nurse call system IS connected to the Vocera badges.

RFI 11 – If building 72 is to be standalone (RFI 6), then it will not be required to connect to an overhead paging system.

RFI 14 - Since there are no compatible products for the existing Ascom Telligence T5 system.

FRI 56 – The VA TIL guidelines require FDA 510k this conflicts with the response to RFI 17.

VA RESPONSE: Bidders are to provide a nurse call compatible with the existing system. Bidders are not being required to provide a gateway to connect to the existing system, nor perform any programming on the existing system.

99.100. The Specification Manual TOC has three sections listed that are not present in the manual. Can you provide these specification sections or let us know they are not required?

09 67 23.60 Resinous Urethane and Epoxy Mortar Flooring (RES-6A and RES 6B) – See attached Specification

23 36 00 Air Terminal Units – Specification not required. The specification is for VAV boxes, and similar devices that are not applicable to this project. Its all fan coil units.

Specification TOC revised and attached.

100.101. Hardware sets in plans, not specs: HW-R3D, HW-SH-3C

VA Response: Omit R3D hardware set in spec, because its not being used. Additionally, VA does not have a catch all statement in the spec that says to disregard hardware sets mentioned in the spec which are not used / shown in the plans. See Section 3.5 Hardware Sets. HW-SH-3C is a typo in the drawings. The drawings need to be updated to “HW-5H-3C”, a 5 instead of an S. The item in the spec is correct.

101.102. Hardware sets in plans, not specs: HW-5H-3C, HW-R31, HW-9A

HW-R31 on the plans in the door schedule is revised to HW-3E.

HW-9A is removed from the specification manual.

VA RESPONSE: The cooktop is CC with a JSN# K4501.

104.105. RFI 93 asked who is responsible for the fireplace, and if the contractor, to provide details. The VA responded that the GC is responsible, but did not provide details. We cannot bid this fireplace as there is no information for it other than “dbl sided fireplace 30-5/16”W x 28”H x 18”D” and “LED fireplace.” It is not listed in the equipment schedule. The circuit for this is shared with the TV above and is shown on the panel schedule to draw only 4.5A. It would seem this is a decorative-only LED fireplace, providing no heat.

Please confirm or clarify.

VA RESPONSE: The fireplace is a double sideddouble-sided LED with heating ability

Basis of Design: link: https://www.electricfireplacesdirect.com/products/napoleon-50-in-clearion-elite-see-thru-electric-fireplace?variant=37647624470677

Breaker for fireplace is to be installed in Panel 2LN12 or 2LN13.

105.106. RFI 94 asked for details for SSM3. No details were provided other than locations in the drawings.

What is this material? It is not defined in plans or specs.

VA RESPONSE: Utilize the quartz material.

What they are referencing here is solid surface, of which is specified a quartz product --SS1 as it appears on the finish legend; BOD Aspen by Hanstone. This product will work well in this application and additionally will coordinate with the overall scheme. The annotation on the plans stating SSM3 is to be SS1 instead.

106.107. RFI 95 asked for details on the bookcase; response said to refer to 06 20 00 and 12 32 00. The bookcase is specifically not listed at 06 20 00 1.1 A & B. 12 32 00, Part 2, lists hardwood veneered plywood, p-lam, MDF , and others. Nowhere indicates which of these materials the bookcases are to be made from.

VA RESPONSE: Shall be solid wood preference #1 pine.

107.108. RFI 97 response stated D5 & D6 on AE502 refer to E1/AE101. Please confirm these details are for headboards at each bed. Please provide elevations to indicate the overall height and width of these headboards. These do not appear on any of the elevations on AE405.

VA RESPOSNE: D5 and D6 on AE502 are casework details, not for beds. Headboard is a part of the bed, not attached to the wall.

109. RFI 108 states that details D5 & D6 on AE502 are for casework. The title for D5 is “plastic laminate details/head wall (bedroom), and for D6, "Plam Wall Panel Base". Both details show Plam mounting directly to a metal stud and drywall partition.

Question: Which walls are to receive this covering?

VA Response: The details do not apply to any walls they should be removed. The details had been removed from the other plans and elevations, but the details themselves were left on the plan sheet, erroneously. The AE will remove them from the plan set. Contractors shall ignore details D5 and D6 on AE502 in the bid plan set. Contractor shall see the wall finish schedule for wall finishes to apply.

Question: To what heights and widths do these extend?

VA Response: Question is not applicable. Please see AE response above. No plastic laminate is required.
