About this file
This document provides a justification for a single source award in accordance with FAR 13.106-1 for a Department of Veterans Affairs construction project. The project involves installing site security campus wide at the VA Medical Center in Jamaica Plain, Boston, MA. The justification is for procuring certain construction materials from a single source, including electronic security and video monitoring systems. The entire VA Boston Healthcare System uses an ExacqVision video management system connected to police monitors across three campuses. Extending the existing Hirsch Electronics card access system and ExacqVision monitoring system is essential to safeguard the medical center's investment and maintain the overall integrity of its critical safety and security systems. Accordingly, the recommended source demonstrated the ability to properly install the systems and troubleshoot issues, and no other contractor has the necessary information. The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 36C24123R0073 for a Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 1 construction MATOC seed project at the medical center.
