About this file

This document is a Technical Specifications section for electrical service upgrades at the Federal Bureau of Prisons facility in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, issued by UNICOR, FPI on March 20, 2026.

Section 260050 establishes basic electrical materials and methods requirements for the project. Key product specifications include steel pipe sleeves meeting ASTM A 53/A 53M, Type E, Grade B, Schedule 40 standards with galvanized finish, and rectangular sleeves made from galvanized sheet steel with minimum thickness of 0.052 or 0.138 inches depending on size. Sleeve seals must be modular sealing devices with EPDM interlocking links, plastic pressure plates, and carbon steel connecting bolts with corrosion-resistant coating; approved manufacturers include Advance Products & Systems, Inc., Calpico, Inc., Metraflex Co., and Pipeline Seal and Insulator, Inc. Installation requirements mandate compliance with NECA 1 standards, SCH-80 PVC for all underground raceways and turnups, and GRS-wrapped PVC corrosion-protection pipe-wrap tape extending 12 inches on either side of all transitions from underground to above-ground raceways. Penetrations through concrete slabs, masonry walls, and fire-rated assemblies require coordinated sleeve installation with firestopping per Division 7 specifications, 1/4-inch annular clear space between sleeves and raceways unless seals are installed, and extension of floor sleeves 2 inches above finished floor level. Field quality control includes inspection of all sleeve, seal, and firestopping installations for damage and defects.
