About this file
This is a specification document (Addendum #1) for the design and installation of a Temporary Wastewater Treatment Plant (TWWTP) facility at North Rim, issued by the Grand Canyon Regional Center Authority (GRCA). The specification encompasses multiple construction sections including a temporary laboratory trailer, electrical systems, raceways, underground conduit work, and lightning protection systems.
The temporary lab trailer specification requires a 56-foot-long, 11-foot-10-inch-wide modular laboratory facility to serve as a functional wastewater treatment plant laboratory during existing facility renovation. The trailer must be delivered with complete HVAC, electrical, and water/waste plumbing systems; seamless fiberglass walls and floors; and specified laboratory equipment including dishwashers, deionized water units, analytical instruments (pH meters, dissolved oxygen meters, spectrophotometers, turbidimeters), fume hoods, and various glassware and analytical equipment. The electrical specifications require a minimum 400-amp, 208V three-phase service with distribution systems, emergency lighting, exit signage, and full HVAC controls. Underground electrical work includes direct-buried PVC conduit installation with handholes, pull boxes, and junction boxes rated for vehicular traffic (AASHTO H-20). The lightning protection system must be designed by a certified Lightning Protection Institute Designer Inspector or Underwriters Laboratories Lightning Protection Master and coordinate with all site structures including treatment equipment, pumping stations, and fencing to create a unified protection system. All work must comply with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 780 (lightning protection standards), and relevant ASTM specifications, with submittals including shop drawings, product technical data, wind anchorage calculations sealed by Arizona-registered professional engineers, and electrical test results.
