About this file
This document contains questions and responses regarding Amendment 6 to solicitation number 140P2021R0084 from the National Park Service for the Brooks Camp Wastewater Treatment Pond project in Katmai National Park & Preserve in Alaska. The responses provide clarification on the project experience form to be included with proposals, confirmation that sand liner filter material can be sourced from either the Mile 5 Pit or the project site itself, and specification of minimum fracture and loss requirements for crushed gravel to be used for aggregate courses. Minimum borehole diameter for monitor wells is specified to be 10 inches.

KATM 238414 Amendment 6 Information dated 06/08/2021
The following information is a distribution of Questions with associated Responses received after the issuance of Amendment 5 dated 06/07/2021:
Question 1: We are unable to locate the “Project Experience” form, as specified in Section L, Instructions for Submissions of Offers, Part E, 3.b, Subfactor 1.B.
a. Is there a specific form that you will require proposers to use? If so, please direct us to where we may be able to find that form.
Response 1: This form, along with additional forms to be used in your proposal submission, were included in the original solicitation and will be included in this Amendment 6 as the PDF Portfolio file
“Attach 4 Forms for Use in Proposal Submission”. Please note that the Price Schedule originally contained in the Portfolio file has been updated in Amendment 2 to this solicitation; this updated price schedule has been included in this Amendment 6 for your convenience as labeled “KATM 238414 Final
CD Contract Price Schedule Rev1 5132021”.
Question 2: Is there a sand source on or near the Treatment Pond Site?
Response 2: Sand Liner Filter material for Percolation Cell is intended to be sourced from either Mile 5
Pit or the Mile 1.8 NE Wastewater Treatment Pond project site. Importing sand is not allowed due to concerns of invasive and noxious weeds introduction to the Park. If sourcing Sand Liner Filter material
(or other earthwork materials) from Mile 1.8 NE project site, the Contractor shall not over excavate below the specified bottom of cell depth within the Percolation Cell floor footprint as to not impact the in-situ soil percolation as specified in Section 02200, Part 3.2.E.. Geotechnical test hole data collected indicates soils present at Mile 1.8 NE project site have less fines (passing no. 200) incorporated, which may be advantageous for Sand Liner Filter material production compared to Mile 5 Pit.

Question 3: Specification 02200 2.2. D, ¾” Aggregate Course and 02200 2.2 E, Aggregate Surface Course calls out “crushed gravel”. However, there is no specification on minimum or maximum fracture. Is it required that these aggregates be crushed or is screening an acceptable alternative?
Response 3: Crushed stone or crushed gravel is required for ¾”-Minus Aggregate Course and Aggregate
Surface Course materials referenced. Crushed stone or crushed gravel material shall consist of sound, tough, durable pebbles or rock fragments of uniform quality. In addition to aggregate gradation requirements specified in the Section 02200 of the Construction Documents, ¾”-Minus Aggregate
Course and Aggregate Surface Course shall meet the following requirements:
AGGEGATE QUALITY PROPERTIES FOR

Question 4: We are unable to find a specification for the minimum hole diameter for the Monitor Wells.
We assume that the holes are to be 12” diameter, please confirm.
Response 4: Minimum borehole diameter for Monitor Wells shall be 10-inch diameter.
