SECTION 012300 - ALTERNATES

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

A. An alternate provides an amount proposed by the Contractor and stated on the pricing form for certain work that will adjust the Base Contract Amount if the Government decides to accept the corresponding scope of work products, materials, equipment, systems or installation methods described in the Contract Documents.

B. The amount for an alternate is the total net adjustment to the Base Bid to incorporate the alternate work into the project.

C. Alternate work shall include miscellaneous devices, accessory objects and similar items incidental to or required for a complete installation, whether or not mentioned as part of the alternate description.

1.2 PROCEDURES

A. Selection: Acceptance or rejection of each alternate will be made by the Government prior to award of the Contract, and the Base Bid amount will be adjusted accordingly for accepted alternates to establish the contract price.

B. Coordination: The Contractor shall modify or adjust affected work as necessary to completely and fully integrate the accepted alternate work into the project Work.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 SCHEDULE OF ALTERNATES

A. Alternate No. 1: Substitute Roof Requirements to protect, repair, and provide limited areas of new flashing at the stairwell roofs and top of façade described in the Scope of Work section “Roof Requirements”, for completely replacing the existing lead coated copper stairwell roofs and flashings as described in the Scope of Work section, “Alternates”.
